I was initially getting 35-38mpg, and still will if I'm riding 80-85mph with riding it kinda hard on the super-slab. This weekend I was late meeting my parents and was riding two-up in busy interstate traffic *very hard* (read, 90-100mph when I could, then choked down by slow cages in the passing lane at 70-80, then back up to 90-100, etc) and was riding into a huge headwind (20-30mph gusts) for a total of ~200 miles--mpg dropped to 31mpg for that trip, but I was still able to get over 200 miles out of the tank. On the way home I slowed her down and took it easy (got an earfull from the mrs over the aggressive driving on the way up) and stayed at 70-75mph (per GPS); got 42mpg and 270 miles out of the tank. BTW, I've never gone less than 50 miles on reserve, even when getting 31mpg (which makes sense, as 31mpg * 1.6 gals = 49.6 miles). I usually get 60-70 miles out of the reserve.
Not trying to hijack the thread, but I do notice the difference oil makes; when I used Yamalube 20w40 I was getting ~43-44mpg at 75-85mph, and since going with a 20w50 mileage has gone down somewhat. I'll probably put a 10w40 or 15w40 back in and see what the mileage goes to.
