I picked up a new 2014 two weeks ago and want to start adding miles. I purchased a used Sargent from a member here, but I still really want a Russell. Anyone who has a Russell built close to my measurements (6' 240), I've got $440.00 with your name on it..

Thanks, Baz

I kinda assumed having the plastic doohickey thing in there meant the seat was raised up....I'll have to check it. I also started looking for my alaskan sheepskin seat cover (the oem seat is like riding on a 2x10 after an hour or two).

No, the plastic frame thing slides forward and backwards to raise and lower the seat, plus there is a little cover at the front that has to be moved to whichever position you aren't using. It is in the owners manual, naturally.

So I moved the seat up, that was cool, and I threw on my sheepskin cover. It feels like a slightly taller, wooly 2x8.

Please somebody sell me a used RDL seat for a 6' tall rider, 230 pounds. Gen2/3.

Why don't you just buy an Airhawk 2 medium cruiser for now and order an RDL over winter when you have time to wait? That's what I did and got a 10% discount whenI ordered around Christmas time too.

If I wait until it turns cold again I'll hope to find a group buy (last time I saved 20%) and it's still bloody expensive, but they do make a fine saddle.

For the sake of expediency I might settle for a sargent now and wait till winter for the replacement.

I don't know about group buys, but Russell has typically offered a 15% off promotion in November. I took advantage of it last year.

I think that discount replaced the regular Group Buy, last year. I don't recall a GB, for the first time in years.

Your budget may have to rise up a little to get some bites. $320 is nothing for an RDL (unless it's beat maybe), but, especially when they are giving up their pan as well.

Good luck :)

Thanks Top...But considering that a leather set with heat just sold for $450 last week (and I sold my Gen1 leather driver for $300 last month), $320 ought to be in the ballpark.

It's not a number I'm stuck on, but I'm not looking to pay retail for a used saddle either. jsns. Thanks, Baz

Thanks for the tip.

Santa Claus: were you paying attention?

Meh... I sprung for my Russell build in September when I bought my '14. My build date was October, I believe. But I think I got the discount (or maybe it was "Russell Frequent Flyer discount) because I paid well less than $800 for the full Monte dual customs with full leather. I was so anxious to get off that stock seat that I'd have paid twice that amount, (that's the problem with knowing what a good seat feels like) but please don't tell Russell. ;)
