Hey All,
Just about have 600 miles on the odo and I'm ready for the first check up. Can anyone tell me if the 600 miler is a major or minor service? Besides changing the oil (which I can do myself) what else is due and what is the cost in american dollars? I've also heard not to use synthetic oil which I use exclusively in my cars any feed back on that?
Impressions: I bought a 2008 Concours 14 ABS and a 08 FJR 1300.
Kawi is faster (not by much) as the six speed has shorter ratioes between gears. I like a six speed. +1 Kawi
Kawi has Non Linked brakes which are as good or better than the Yami. I like non linked brakes and I think the Kawa has better braking. +1 Kawi
I like the color of the Kawi better (subjective) Neutron Silver looks awesome. +1 Kawi
The Yamaha has and does everything I've always wanted in a liter bike. The heat is manageable (Kawi is very hot) and rear vision is the best I've ever seen on a big bike. The Kawi gas tank is small and I don't like the computer on the Kawi. Great torque, Kawi needs to make a few (minor) changes to "dial it in". The heat management is poor.
Long story even longer; I sold the Kawi and kept the FJR. I think motorcycle magazine hit it just right on the ST comparo in Feb. The FJR is (in my opinion) KING of the sport tourer class. Give it a sixth gear and non link the brakes along with a couple other color choices and it would be perfect. Now I only wish for a factory electronic cruise control. I know, I know, one is never satisfied.
The bin-o-facts and FJR Tech has been extremely helpful and I would like to say thanks to everyone who takes the time to "put together" the information and pictorials that are in my opinion the best forum on the net. I thank you all and value your experienced opinions (and sarcasm). Dirk
