600 mile service

Bike was at 626 miles when I got back from my ride today so I did the 600 mile service. I had the dealer check the head bearing 2 days ago so those were a check. Everything else was a check also. Changed the oil/ filter and final drive gear oil and all was good. I would like to thank the wise members of this forum that suggest that you check the splines on the final drive /rear wheel. Yep there was not to much evidence that Molly had been applied at the factory. Lubed the splines and I'm ready for the next one in a few thousand miles. I love this place. I did the service myself. Total cost was $41.00. Didn't get to do the tbs check, I don't have tools to do it. I did everything else though.

Mine should have gone to the dealer this week for the 600 mile service but not had chance.

Any ideas on extras I should ask the dealer to check?

$41? The rear differential oil runs at least $31 for a pint. Please expain.

1 qt Honda gh4 oil $3.90

1 Yamaha oil filter $11.84

1 L Maxima gear oil $8.50 recommend buy a tech.

I was talking with the tech about the service and he recommended the gear oil. It is the same thing the shop uses when it does the service. I had a tube of molly grease from my other bike.

The gear oil is Maxima gear oil A.P.I GL-5 80w90.
