Well, I now have to remove myself from the list. We had an unexpected family event with my father in laws wife who passed away, so I'm now attending a funeral on Wed. down in Newbury Park. We werent' that close to her, but in support of my wifes Dad, we need to be there.

Have fun everyone. With this literally being in my back yard I feel bummed about not being able to meet all the forum members attending.

Ironically, we went to the Far Western on Saturday for lunch to celebrate my Sons girlfriends birthday. Get the onion rings with your steak sandwhich, you can't go wrong!

Forecast locally is for rain in the morning, so dress accordingly.

Cheers.

Randy

Subject: [LDRider] Guadalupe, CA - RTE Photo Casting call

If you are going to the Far Western Tavern RTE in Guadalupe, CA this coming Wednesday, I could use your help. I'm looking for some riders who don't mind staying over a few hours for an IBA magazine photo shoot. The reason for the shoot is to build the stock photography colection for upcoming issues of the IBA Magazine. Sunset is around 5:00 pm so I don't anticipate the shoot going much past 5:30 to 6:00 pm. I don't have exact locations yet but I will be in the area on Tuesday to do some location scouting. The most likely area will be along SR-166, East of Santa Maria. I'll have the location info Tuesday evening.

If you would like to participate, please send me a reply.

Thanks

Steve H.

49 motorcycle riders and 3 tractor drivers lifted their glasses toasting to “those who can’t” (ride that is). Wishing them a quick winter to get back on the road again. It was pretty much a full house at the Far Western Tavern’s main dining room. :yahoo:

Us Californian's have the benefit of near 365 days of riding weather. Inclement weather for us is sub 50°F temps, rain, coastal fog and on occasions a little snow in the mountain passes. For the past 5 years, we have perfect blue skies and puffy white clouds. This year on the 30th only, we had rain up and down the coast and fog in the San Juaquin Valley!! :glare:

It was wet enough to have a 30% cancellation/no shows which was offset with a dozen who just showed up. But, the final count was the largest "Because We Can!" RTE to date.

IBR veterans included Eric Jewell, Tom & Rosie Sperry, Reiner and Lisa Kappenberger, Mark Crane, Jerry White, Steve Hobart and others. Many attendees were first timers.

Longest ride in was Cletha Walstrand, 02 Honda GL1800, from Ivins UT, 522 miles. She was the only out-of-stater.

It was another great turnout for FJRs with 13! 15 BMW’s of all models, 7 Honda’s of all models, 3 Suzuki’s of all models, 3 Harley’s of all models and a couple of others.

Those returning home south through the SoCal/LA basin ended the year with another unique California situation … California lane splitting! Having the ride in the middle of the work week put the southbound riders in the middle of the evening rush hour traffic. We ended up splitting traffic from Ventura to 57 … approx 80 miles in light showers. There are many sore butt’s from extensive butt puckering and massive seat clenching. :dribble:

And so we start a new year!

Happy New Years to all!

Wish I could have been there with y'all. Hope somebody posts up some pics so we'll see what we missed.

And I wish I were in Pasadena today to see my Ducks in the Rose Bowl, but I'll have to settle for watching it on the tube instead.

Just a couple, LDRydr.

They made me leave when the hardcore stuff ( rally scoring, mapping software, catheter/Foley insertion)

was being discussed, being as how I'm not an IBA'er.
