The block of rooms for the dates of 7/28 & 7/29 were gone so for those two nights we have to pay $129. We get the first night at $79.

Sounds like a $129 disconnect from the Event Contract which stipulates the Group Rate room discount is available until 30 days prior to the event.

Phaque! Mr. Procrastinator just wasted a hunnert bucks. Oh, well. That much less to spend on booze, broads and tables. :fool:

They only blocked out so many rooms. WC did indeed shoot one over the bow about this... But, do you think we'd listen? NOOOOOOOOOooooooooo!

D'OH!

If there was a shot over the bow regarding this issue then it was a mixed shot. The question about the deadline for room reservations was asked and answered on January 26. If there was a limited number of rooms available at the $79 rate there wasn't any mention of it at that time. I think it (limited number of rooms) may have been mentioned earlier but after I read WC's comment about the Contract I thought it was a non-issue. If the number of rooms are limited then that will probably also reduce the number of attendees.

Well, seeing as I don't spend money on broads, it was nice of me to wait for all the guys that do have to pay for 'it' to get the cheap rooms :haha:

My delay wasn't a procrastination anyway. It was a scarafice for greater good that is a completely different story that I'll tell over some Macallan's in Reno!

:D

From the WFO site:

Don't delay making your reservations, as our block of rooms will undoubtedly fill up quickly.

Orangie, I was refering to me, not you. I always wait til the last possible moment... I hate advance planning leisure time activities...

If the rooms are truly filled up, how about room shares. I have done this at two of the WFO's and it worked for me. so how about it ? Anyone? I too didn't make reservations yet for family and work related issues. Non smoker easy going. Live in No. ca. mike

S.O. finally confirmed she was going this weekend so I booked last evening. I was also told $129 per night as the block was filled <_< .

Figured I rather hang at the Hilton with you partyers than try to find something cheaper so I coughed up the extra. If we can recoup cool, if not oh well...

So you don't want to drink with me?

You and I are alike in that way though. This planning ahead stuff is really strange. Quite a few ride reports that I've put up were based on rides that had been decided upon within 2 hours of leaving, or less.

When I hear the word , 'procrastinator' I assume I'm being referred to ;)

Room shares worked on the Yosemite trip, I think people can easily find those interested in splitting the cost.

I will also confess to being a prize procrastinator but it is not because I am not willing to plan, I just seem to have very bad karma when it comes to motorcycle trips and reservations. Every time I make a reservation something goes wrong and I end up having to cancel or eat the cost -- so I wait as long as possible to pull the string. I might have waited too long this time, but damn, this is early March and event isn't until the end of July.

Oh, yeah... We're doing some boozing, for sure! :good:

About the room share stuff? A bit o advice: MadMike and Rogue make more noise while asleep than a gaggle of geese in heat!

TWN - No kidding! We should check the seismographs for the night MM2 stayed near Yosemite last year. I am confident it will show an increase in seismic activity. :D

WOW...booked three nights on the 5th Mar. Got the 79.00 rate for all three. Must have been the next to last ones available....PHEEEEEW

Dammit!

For about the last week now I've been thinking the same thing, "prolly should book, prolly should book"...

Fear not, I have faith that WC will open the door for us undeserving stragglers. If not, oh well, it's only money.

They have nickel slots there, right?
