90% valve stems

To all you guys and gals just getting into the world of the FJR ( and to all those who have been around and haven't done so yet ) one of the very best things you can do for yourself is get a set of the 90% valve stems. Nothing you can do, from a convenience point of view, will do more you. These things are an absolute must have. They are made by Ariete and come in a variety of colors. One of our forum members, Bike Effects, carries them, as do other suppliers. You'll praise the day you got them.

Perhaps its a shorty valve stem. Or maybe one without a core in it.

I've got a set of these on my bike right now and the're pretty cool. It makes checking the air pressure in the front tire easier. They are a little pricey though.

Also I thought they were a real PITA to install. Could have just been me but I had to remove the rubber seal install that first, then install the valve stem. This is what the "If your having trouble installing" instructions said to do.

A valve stem that only holds 90% of the air!

+1 on vecterdude's observations that 1) they are the dog's danglies, and 2) they are a PITA to install.

Yep your all right its the best thing since sex,I've had mine on 2 yrs now one of the best investments for the FJR. Now trying to find our the hole size for GL 1800

so I can get rid of the nasty stems that are OEM. I had no problem with the install just cut off the old position it for the side you want to be able to get to and might I say have them face the right side as if on side stand easy to get to.

I am not sure why you would need 90 deg. stems

the factory stems are not hard to get to ,, nothing in the way like a laced spoke wheel ,,

The catalog listing says "11.3 mm hole for standard Japanese Motorcycles". Does this include the FJR? I ask because I had ordered some, listed the same way, from my tire supplier, and on the shelf they sit because they didn't fit. There is apparently more than one standard sized Japanese Motorcyle size.

I think it was Turbo Dave who told me a story of how one failed on his front tire at speed and he almost went down. Not sure what brand or where he got them from, but how's that for a complaint?

I've got a set & they're going on with the next tire change.

Speaking of splitting valves... had the front OEM split on me @ about 35-40 mph. Talk about NO control! That was quite an experience that I don't wish to repeat! So, on go the new 90 D's!

Also, about those Ariete stems... looks to me like they can't split. They look to be solid metal.

You are right, this did happen to Dave, not sure on which brand of 90 this occurred with though?
