I am looking for a 2nd bike (have my 06 A) or I am going through a crisis of sorts

Considering a Triumph triple, Daytona ... well, something fun non-LD :glare:

https://richmond.craigslist.org/mcy/875716408.html

This is 2nd posting; reduced from $4500 to $3900 in couple of days!?

I plan to check it out this week, BUT I don't know anything about this bike other than the reviews ...

I just love that color :clapping:

I hope the guy will let me test ride it.

The bike is in VA and I don't know any trusty mechanic there to have it checked.

What should I look for other than the usual (service records and such)?

Advice is greatly appreciated.

That's a great bike. The I-3 really is my favorite motorcycle engine with a best-of-both-worlds mix of torque and peak power. It doesn't compete with the Japanese big bikes in the magazine tests, but in the real world I think it's at least as capable and probably has better suspension for human-sized humans on public roads. Its power to weight is certainly north of anything that could matter on the street, they're crazy fast (as is just about anything these days). They upgraded the power by considerable amount in '02, but I'm pretty sure it's all in the peak power with no real gains in the rev range where we spend 90% of our time.

I saw in your other ad that you were also looking at trailers. If you decide on one of these bikes in Richmond, maybe you could pick up this trailer while you're down there.

I couldn't see myself spending $4000 on a 10 year old bike with 20K miles on it. What kind of non-LD fun are you looking for? This could be a lot of fun

This too

Your suggestions are all good. As I said up top, I am in a bit of a crisis - I can't decide

I am considering the KLR650 or a BMW R1150R ... like this or a Buell XB12R.

Now that I think about it, I might not enjoy a crotch rocket for much long ... so Daytona is out.

Well, I am going on the search again.

I agree, given that I know that model well. I'd pass and wait for the next temptation....

I was a "Pioneer Customer" for Triumph when they came to the U.S. in '95.

I had a Fireball Orange Speed Triple, the original modular chassis, 885cc triple that looked like a GPz Kawasaki motor with a jug missing.

Put 30k on it in 18 months, traded it in for a T595 Daytona, virtually the same as that '99, save for some 1st year niggles. (fuel injection, constant map download/upgrades, water pump, throttle bodies)

Put 30k on that in 14 months....it road tripped pretty well and went a lot of places to ride good roads.

I can believe the price drop. It's not great on most bikes in general, and purely painful on those.
