I want to thank everyone on this forum for all their very helpful advice and postings. I did alot of research before purchasing an 06. So far the FJR has lived up to my high expectations and I'm enjoying riding it very much. My old bike was an 84 Kawasaki Ninja, so this is a big step up for me. As an added bonus I was born in 1963 and my VIN is 00063. (must be fate)
I use my bike primarily for going to work and at least 1 long tour each year as well as going for day trips on the weekends. From reading all the topics in this forum I decided to add a few accessories to make the trips just that little bit more comfortable.
The first thing I added were the decals from Alexfjr. They look cool in the daytime and light up like beacons at night.

I heard about loud horns so I bought the Magnum Blasters from Hornsplus and used the post from Mindtrip to help with the installation. His idea of using the supplied brackets worked perfectly. I used a 30 amp relay from Radio shack with heavy 12 ga wire. My wife liked them so much I installed the chrome ones on her Honda Shadow.

I bought a Garmin 2610 GPS, the special steering nut bracket and the Garmin motorcycle quick connect cradle. I followed the post from Warchild and installed a 6 pin distribution block with a 30 amp relay from Radio shack. This made the other accessories easy to hook up to the hot connection and they are switched, fused and relay protected. There is tons of room for everything to be neatly hidden under the front fairing.

On the advice of guys from this forum I purchased a set of Dual Star grip warmers and the Heat Troller controller. I followed the install post from Tom Barber and to my amazement the install went very smoothly. The compressed air trick to remove and install the stock grips worked perfectly. I mounted the heat troller on the left side of the fairing and hooked up the grips omitting the blue wires as Tom suggests. I have driven for 3 hours at 6 deg Celcius and had warm hands with my summer gloves. The Heat Troller was only set about half way. I followed the wire trick to keep the Dual Star wires from pulling out on the throttle side. I was able to run the clutch side thru the signal box. My Yamaha dealer wanted $600 for a set of Yamaha grips installed. So I guess that means you guys saved me about $500 on this farkle alone.
