While me and you (all my riding buddies) hang our here on the FJR Forum, my little brother (the family sportsman) hangs out on his favorite forum, IFISH.NET (alias ajfishfinder). I'm not sure if he knows this guy or not, but his locale is right next to Mt. Hood. Amazing story and pictures in any case. CLICKY

Congradulations on being a true sportsman and an honest one. you did the right thing.

I gave up hunting in 1975 I just do not enjoy it. Glad you enjoy it and a true sportsman

There was an attack this summer here in the Sacramento area with a mountain lion and the person almost did not survive..

That's too bad. The person should probably NOT have survived. That may have given other HUMANs a bit more incentive to be careful when encountering other species.

It's like they think they own the place, I tell ya...

This occurred pretty darn close to my house. The American River green belt attracts deer, wild turkey, coyote and Mountain Lion. Typically, the lions that come down here are the older lions looking for easier prey, but not always the case. They often will expand the game to include pets.

Not too many stray dogs around here for some reason

When a human gets nailed by a lion, it makes me think, "Finally, they are getting us back some."

I wouldn't feel that way if it was someone I knew though...I'm a hypocrite.

That said, I'd rather die my Mt Lion attack than car accident. Way cooler. I have had one close encounter with a lion. It left very slowly after a spell of staring at me. That spell seemed like an hour, but was probably about a minute. I was sitting. I stayed down, looked straight at it and talked to it calmly. I was ready to roll into the very deep water next to me and hoped that I could outswim it if it decided to attack. Gladly, it did not. :)

This brings back a memory of a back-packing trip to New Mexico where I woke up to lion prints around my tent- and lived to tell about it.
