It does look fun! Never done it myself, probably scared I'd get carried away and wreck my bike. Sorta like giving a 10 yr old a go-cart, and telling him to " Go have fun!".

That FZ-1 looks gorgeous btw.

So this is what happens when a Bugnatr gets sprayed with the Black Flag! The folks at Thunderhill have a thing about apexing Turn 1 as you leave the pits and poor Doug was in too much of a hurry to get on the gas so he got a little talking to by the bosses. No big deal and the day went on....

Well later in the day we talked about getting some filming done but Doug couldn't wait and so after about 1/3 of a lap he decides to blow by me at Turn 6. Nice clean pass, and away he goes...

Later in that same session my buddy Ted gets tired of waiting for a couple of slower riders so tries to take the apex away from a couple of slower riders on a tight blind turn called the Cyclone. Showing a momentary and rare case of good judgement he backs off and gets to ride over the curb for good measure....

A couple more to follow - didn't seem to like me trying to put more than 2 video links into a single post

So later in the session, Doug tries to pass some slower traffic on the main straight. Unfortunately for him one of them drifts to the edge of the track and forces him to check up to avoid some dirt tracking fun. I get a cheap pass but the game is on...

In the final pass of the day, Ted uses the 1000cc of his FZ1 to good use and blows by me on the main straight. Didn't help I was in the wrong gear but its like I'm standing still.

All in all it was a great day. The weather was perfect, a beautiful 72F or so at the peak of the afternoon, and good guys to hang out with. Thanks to Doug, Ted and his son Warren for making it one of the better track days I've had. I'm already getting withdrawals and looking forward to next spring to get back out....

Funny thing is by the end of the day you'll be riding harder than ever, and harder than you'd originally intended, only you'll be doing it better and safer and less likely to crash.

I'm sure you're right Jasen, in fact, you're more right than you know. It's just that I don't want to track day my FJR. I'd like a lighter bike to do it with, you know, to have fun in the curves. My wife won't let me use her FZ6R for that, so I need another bike. I've been looking at used R6's lately, thinking that would be perfect for track days.

SV 650's have a great track reputation also.

Thanks, I'll put that on the radar.
While looking up the SV, I saw another link to the Panigale 959. Why do I do this to myself? 😤

Indeed, good thing to have a dedicated track bike to take out there. However, nothing quite like the bonding experience you get with your primary ride seeing what it's capable of in a controlled environment. I wouldn't recommend it for the long haul, but I also wouldn't avoid taking the FJR out there and giving it a good thrashing either. It's good learning stuff.

I've got a line on an SV1000 that I'd love to grab, but dang if the timing isn't all wrong.

Yes they do! Mine is a '99 and still beating up on superbikes!

It is also for sale, I've got $10 K into it, selling it for $5 K.
