Yesterday, Friday mourning 3:30 get up didn't sound so good, and with eight days of sick leave to use or burn so where or what do I do????????????/

The night before the wife tells me that she was running low on Aspirin so I thought I would duplicate Hudson's ride up to the Costco just across the boarder. So me thinks I'll take a run up 9 to Sumas get the wife her goodies.

So off I go to be a hero and by the time I get to Smokey Point to get some cash at the machine it starts raining so after getting the cash I just run up I-5 to Bellingham and take the Sunset drive over to 9 then to Sumas. It quit raining so took a couple of shots as I was headed up 9.

I filled up in Sumas crossed the boarder and did my Drug buy at Costco and was thinking to myself what next? I knew Canada's 1 was just down the street and thought let's do a Can Am Cascade Loup

So off I go on on 1 headed for Hope. 1 isn't to bad as the view's are nice.

It cleared up a bit so some more shots headed east.

I could have taken more photo's but I got into a few groups of these and did some sprited chasing.

These two could push those old bath tub's hard thru the corners it was fun being in their play ground!

I crossed the boarder at Nighthawk a little crossing with very little traffic in the middle of nowhere.

After I got my usual lecture about only bringing 50 of the Asprin tablets back they said I could go.

I pulled away and looked back and thought what a Patriotic picture this would make.

I turned the bike a bit so I could snap a shot of the nice looking boarder patrol building with the flags and this back drop.

The guards came running out yelling at me took my camara, and now I'm a real bad guy not only a drug runner but a real live terrorist.

That went on for a few and after they looked at my picture's and made me delete the one and scared the crap out of me they lead me around back told me to watch for snakes and let me take that picture.

Badly shaken I take off thinking I'll ride around Palmer Lk thru Loomis and on to Tonasket, oh and by this time the blinky light came on telling me to get fuel! Oh well I decide that I can make Tonasket via Loomis.

No more pic's as I got one of the cleanest runs I've ever had coming down and really all the way to Darrington.

It started raining pretty hard when I hit Darrington but all in all a great 550 miles in about thirteen hours.

When I got home I changed the oil in the motor and the rear drive. So now I'm ready for the next run.

Thnaks Kevin. Haven't seen those roads in a few years. That makes a better loop than doing north cascades and stevens.

Most excellent ride report Pan...for being *sick* and all. ;) Gonna have to make that loop one of these days!

nice report - and terrifically impressed that you remembered the aspirin.

who chased you about taking a photo of the Border / Customs building?

US guys or Canucks? - there's no WA law against taking photos in our state.

It was our Boarder guys, after 911 they just aren't comfortable with pictures being taken of they're dig's.

No biggie, these guy's have our backs. It's just that the Picture would have been just a cool shot.

Nice job, Kevin. Looked like a great ride and no one with you to catch you cavorting around in your pajamas this time. That's probably what got the border guys in a lather.

:clapping:

LOVED IT! Thanks for the inspiration Kevin!

I'm going to use this route as a warm up for a SS1000 later this year! I think this and the North Cascades Loop would be excellent warm up "events" to a combined SS1000/BB1500 effort... :D

Very nice report. Looks like you started out to "duplicate Hudson's ride," and ended up almost duplicating Lewis and Clark's. Great scenery--we're so damn spoiled here in the west, aren't we? I wondered whose "side" those Border Patrol folks were from too. Seemed like they were being awful sensitive. I wondered if you somehow stumbled onto the border with East Berlin or something.

Guess I'm kind of a scofflaw myself:

He was accosted by the Americans. We Canadians couldn't give a fling f*ck if you took pics... ;) Our feeling is better to take the pics now, than wait. With no federal spending to upgrade the buildings, in all likelihood, the buildings will collapse soon, and we want as many folks out there as possible to encourage tourists to visit! :D
