This is something that I think would be very addicting...like sell the house for laps addicting.
Peter Egan once wrote "Saying motorcycle racing is addicting is like saying heroin addiction is the vague wish for something salty" (or thereabouts)

He nailed it. Crack has nothing on this.

I enjoyed reading your report - especially your "brain" quips. LOL!

I must admit that on very rare occasion, I get way over my head in the twisties and my mind is going:

"Look, lean, believe. Look, lean, believe. (decreasing radius now here) LOOK, LEAN, HOLY CRAP!!! MOMMIE!!!!!"

Then I blow the curve and thank God no one was coming in the opposite direction.

May I ask how much this cost you, not including travel expenses?

Thanks - surprisingly, it's not as expensive as I thought. I still can't afford it, but at least I know what to shoot for.

Well after you pop for the extra insurance ($199 deductable) and pay taxes on everything, then throw in travel and hotel and 3 days off work... who am I kidding, it was SO WORTH IT.

I will not have a chance staying with you on those SE Ohio twisties now...
Pfft. The techniques are the same as the race track, but the hazards and lines are totally different ball game. A race line on the road will get your *** killed even if you do stay in your lane. Race lines will always put you out where you don't want to be. You won't see me going much faster on the road. Hopefully just smoother, safer and more capable. Besides, it was just 1 session. Nearly all of which I knew going in. But it was a chance to practice them all together at speed in a safe enviroment.

BTW, if you see me out on the road, say Hi and point the way back to the hotel mmmkay.

Most auto/moto liability policies include coverage for vehicles that are rented. I know it's a long shot, but it would be interesting if they view this as a rental, and if so, it may not be necessary to buy the insurance. However, failing that, one would be a fool not to pay for the lowest deductible coverage they offer.

I'm pretty sure because it's on a racetrack, and, carrying a much higher risk, you'd be SOL on any claim. The liability at FAST with no ins is a maximum of $2000. They offer two different policies, the best of which is a little over $100 with a $199 deductible. Considering the risks, that's cheap. Taking a look at the bikes, their all carrying scars from offroading (rashed sliders and various dings, but all are mechanically sound and maintained).

Saves your money, takes your chances.

I missed this one first time around Steve. Great report dude! Has me studying up on the four steering techniques. :D
