Officials were assured the sexual encounter was not in exchange for anything related to his position as a law enforcement officer. :dribble:

.......was named a 2009 state police office of the year and was awarded a "Challenge Coin" in July, an honor given to officers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
I'd say he proved that axiom.... :dribble:

I'd say he once again was beyond the call of duty

I don't get it. Since when is having *** reasons for dismissal from a public sector job?

I know that some people get pretty prudish, but hey... Your Mom did it!

There must be more to this story...

I'm guessing, since those who viewed the tape knew he was a policeman AND the sheriff knew it was a state officer....he must have been in uniform. Doh! An entirely new (or alternate) definition/description of "public service".

It would be interesting to know if he actually WAS on duty, wouldn't it? I mean...er...uhm...."role playing" taken to a whole-other-level!

On-duty = no no. Throw in 'in uniform' on the hood of a car caught by a private security video for some extra.

On duty = no, no - agreed, but on his own time and on his own car.... then I question the termination.

Was it on the patrol car?

Was this lot public property? Could he become humiliated further and be charged with some sort of *** crime and have to register as an offender?

Poor *******... thinking with the wrong head.

Absolutely concur.... something ain't adding up. Quite a sensationalistic story - but lacking all the critical facts!

For example:

1) Was he on duty?

2) When they say "hood of the car" do they mean his patrol cruiser?

3) Was he in uniform at the time?

If the answers to any of the above is "yes", then I can see the dismissal. But if they are "no"... I hope he appeals and wins.

ASSuming he was off-duty/his personal car/etc, then who gives a rip if he was boinking some chick on a car hood while they were alone in a desolate area? That's not a crime. And why even publish this "news" if you aren't going to include the crucial, relevant facts?

Then is all came together for me in an instant once I saw the news source... FOXNews!     :baaasmiley:

Bah.... there is a reason FOXNews has been classified as "news entertainment" by Associated Press and other long-time, well-established news sources.... they are the digital equivalent of the National Enquirer... :thumbsdownsmileyanim:

"It is an embarrassing situation for the department, but we have to remember the rights of the employee afford him due process we must follow so we won't be commenting further," said spokesman Sgt. Tim Johnson.

"Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorence on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon... " -George Costanza

According to the above linked news report, the guy was caught on a surveillance camera, obviously unknown to him, in a desolate and deserted location. Yeah, he was apparently in (at least partial) uniform, which was how they knew it was a cop. No mention of if it was on the hood of the patrol car or if he was on duty.

Here's my take: How many cops do you suppose might have *** in partial uniform from time to time in privacy? My guess would be "all of them". If you were in a remote location wouldn't you expect that there is a certain amount of implied privacy? It's not like he was humping her on the pool table of a crowded barroom. The fact that they "caught him" with a hidden camera would be more of an invasion of his expected privacy than a reason to can him from the force. Even if they were on the hood of the patrol car, so what? As long as they didn't damage the state's property during the heat of intimacy, and he had been given some sort of permission to use the car for personal use outside of his duty time...

IMO the only valid reasons for dismissal , would be if the *** was non-consensual or otherwise illegal (which it apparently wasn't) or if the guy was on duty. It almost has to be the latter.

edit - A google search turned up another article that says the car was a Honda. If he was driving his Honda then he was most likely not on duty.
