Also , you should include a message about how much faster a bike can stop than a car, especially us with ABS. Which makes it extremely dangerous to follow too close!
considering your pillion, I see why people follow you too closely.
A lot of people have said this will fall on deaf ears. I agree, it probably will. Somebody has to take a stand and demand a level of competancy on the roadway and that starts here. That goes double for riders I'm afraid.

Please feel free to modify this draft to suit your needs and forward on to the local media outlet of your choosing or friends. anything you can do to call to the attention of drivers we are out there will help.

MNTW (morons need to walk).
That has to be the phrase of the day. MNTW = Morons need to walk.
Unfortunately, the ultimate responsibility, of course, is ours if we're riding. Yesterday I was riding slowly down a quiet, narrow street (more of an alley) and this young woman/***** came out of a business with the obligatory phone in her ear, mid-block, and without as much as glancing up, let alone left or right, walked right out in front of me! I saw how engrossed she was in her fascinating conversation, so in this case I had plenty of time to give her a blast on my freeway blasters. Should have seen her jump. Hell, the morons you're talking about can't even walk safely. We'd all better watch out for our OWN ***!

Jester,

You did a fine job. Will it fall on deaf ears? For the most part. But it will also will raise awareness in others--especially those who know a motorcyclist but haven't thought about how their driving might affect others motorcyclists. Any effort in this regard is worthwhile.

A Rider's Plea For Attention.
Dear car, truck, minivan or SUV driver, I am writing to you in an attempt to draw your attention to the rising number of motorcycles appearing on the roadways these days. So open your eyes and dump the ******' phone.

Sincerely,

I prefer my subtle version.

I prefer "SHUT UP AN DRIVE"

And on more than one occasion, while at a red-light, you could hear me yelling at an ***** "IS THIS YOUR FIRST TIME ON PAVEMENT? AREN'T THOSE SIGNS PRETTY?"
