Good stuff. My Dad had an NSU when stationed in Germany after WWII. It was in the garage of the house he was asssigned along with a Merc. The MPs soon came and collected the Merc to be used as a staff car for the General Officers. The house had belonged to a SS Major who committed suicide at the end of the war. The US Army just told his widow to get out on a minutes notice and moved my family in with all the possesions still there. Wish he had kept the NSU.
I think Zundapp and CZ should be on any list of notable extinct brands. Last year at Dust To Dawson in Dawson City, YT there was a guy on a 1922ish Zundapp. He even competed in the street games with it and did pretty well. Anyone else have a nomination for an extended list?
What about Triumph, Norton, and Indian; three historic brands that went out of business decades ago but have been revived today (after numerous attempts) in name only.

Yep, my bad, looks like I skipped that paragraph. Since we are throwing out names, I'll add Montessa, Maico, and Ossa. All big names in dirt racing in the 60s but mostly forgotten today.
