I have read a number of ABS comments, but I still have a question. What is the cause of front brake stutter? My ABS warning light is on, and front brake lever results in coarse stuttering of front brake. Rear is just fine. Anyone have/solve this problem? It is intermittent and I can stop the bike ok, but this is not a good thing. Reluctant to take it to a dealer, but may have to.

Sounds like your ABS is activating when it shouldn't. Check to make sure you don't have any binding in the front or a stuck rear brake - pivot can get gummed up. It would have to be bad to cause this!

Otherwise, I would look for a problem with the ABS sensor.

Has this just started and did it begin after some sort of wheel service?

First things first, bleed the brakes, cycle the abs twice, and then bleed the brakes again. At least that's what I would do.

Clean all the "abs" parts on the front and rear wheel.

Plenty of threads on how to do all this, I use the "speedbleeders" and just "jumper" the ABS system.

IF you buy the speedbleeders be sure and buy one of their "collection bags" best thing ever. Good luck.
