If a complete flush-and-wipe of DOT4 doesn't correct the problem, I'll dig deeper.
Is there any sort of "flush" liquid that could/should be used to help clean the system? Or just waste some new DOT4 Syn for flushing?

Gotta get me a MityVac soon!
Nope, it's just a case of chugging good stuff in there. I use the Prestone stuff in the black bottle myself. FYI, if you need some tool-age.. I have a Vacula refiller and a Mityvac 7.4 liter evacuator.

The refiller goes on the brake reservoir and keeps it topped up. Works pretty well. The evacuator is a 7.4 liter tube with a bicycle pump thing in the middle that works in reverse to suck air out and pull fluid in. Develops a hell of a lot more vacuum than the handheld thing and drained my bathroom sink in about 45 seconds when I tested it. Worked a treat on my clutch. I bought these because both my bikes have ABS now and probably need the TLC and maybe some more TLAs.

It's kind of big, but it'll fit on the back of the FJR if you want me to bring it over, or you can bring your machine up to Orlando, and we can pop it on the lift. I've got a ton of tools in the garage. I'm on the east side of Orlando, in a 'burb called Waterford Lakes, south of UCF. Your call...

You've got me curious and I've rebuilt bike brakes, transmissions, and carbs, but not ABS yet, other than change fluid and check sensors.

Hmmmmmm.....an offer for assistance? I just might make you regret it. :D

Now we find out the TRUE reason Radio put a freakin car tire on a motorbike. :****:

Oh,

Hugs n' Kisses Radio!

A reminder to all who refer to me in the diminutive:

"Radio" is what I do, "Howie" is who I am!

It's "Howie", ya Left Coast Doofus!

:****:

Someone above referred to 5 mph. This sounds about right if the ECU is operating at somewhere between 50 and 100 hz. Anyone know what the frame rate of the ECU is?
According to the Gen II manual, it's "8/1000 seconds" or 8ms, which is 125Hz. Plus "perform trial runs at a speed of faster than 10km/h" which is 6mph. Which matches the fact that the ABS light on my SV doesn't go out until I hit 5mph (it has a digital speedo)

Tonight I'm going to try out the ABS pulse-the-solenoids tests on my own bike, just to see what it's like. (and because I'm *bored out of my skull* - obviously so because I brought my service manuals in to work to read)

Dammit... I liked the days when all I could afford were crap bikes that needed fixing every weekend to keep running. Maybe I need to buy a Harley or a BMW....
