So to confirm, the sidestand is high quality forged steel, easy to cut, weld, bend and retain strength, right?
So cutting and welding is not a problem with the factory stand, correct?

Getting a bit of conflicting information from the dealer - they report poor results when cutting and welding sidestands...

You might consider having one fabricated to work with the FJR lowered. Keep the stock one for selling the bike.

I'm not sure I would take my bike to that same dealer for a .... say... a valve adjustment....

I have done it before... bent a side stand on a shortened bike. Heat it up, bend to where you want it.

Hell, with a couple of buoys you even you don't need a kick stand. You may want to check your pumpkin oil, though......plus your swing arm bearing is probably shot, too, and I'm sure there's other issues covered and whined aboot here.
