Adjustments with bar risers

My used 05 came with some bar risers. I don't know the brand. They are two individual blocks, not an entire top bracket. The current Rider mag has a write-up on the 08 FJR. They discuss the bar adjustment method - you must loosen both bars at the same time, then you can adjust them. Will this method work on my 05 with risers? I'd like to get them a bit wider.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 bars are VERY different. Gen 2 have stock in them the ability to change position of the bars where Gen 1 were completely static.

Most of the risers I've seen on the Gen 1 were not adjustable...I think. They were blocks that just adjusted position to a static one the rider chose when they purchased.

Or, remove the three bolts on the one of the handlebars...the guts would be underneath and see if they're adjustable.
