Well we've been looking for a while and trying to decide if we were ready for another doggy. We've always like Chesapeake Bay Retreivers and had to put ours down a couple years ago. Well Mama was checking the rescue sites on the web and found one up in Watkins Glen where my son and future daughter in law were camping. The next morning she let Ryan know where this place was and he skipped seeing the Park and went straight to the rescue shelter. There he found 25 chessy's and a Lady named Sandy caring and training them. Her heart is trully devoted to this bread and also has 6 of her own. Well needless to say out of 25 dogs you would have to be blind not to find a sweet one. He's about 16 months old and full of energy of course. I'm not sure why this collar was on him but I would never use one of those.

Here's our new Doggie :yahoo: His name is Toby

This poor baby was found in New England somewhere tied to a tree in the woods. We picked him up last weekend and he was a jewel all the way back to MD where he belongs.

He's home now enjoying a nice yard and loving family. He needs to put on some weight and go through a year of good training. We are glad we were able to take him.

Handsome boy. Take good care of him.

Some people are such ******** they don't deserve to have animals.

I'd like to find the PO and chain them to a tree in the woods...

Nice looking dog!

He'll flourish in a good home with lots of attention...

I hate those collars too BTW...

Awww....

What a cute pup.

Good on ya!

I gotta agree with Fred - why in the hell would someone chain up a good lookin' pup to a damn tree. I gon't get it. :madsmiley:

Way to go and congrats :clapping: Can't go wrong with that breed. Fanstastic disposition and a whole lot of fun.

Glad to see that Toby has found his forever home. He looks gorgeous.

It's less than a year since we were inducted into the select group of people, who share their lives with dogs. We rescued a Shepherd/Rottweiler from the pound. A couple of weeks ago, he was joined by a Shepherd, whose family was unable to take good care of him. We're delighted with the way that our boys play together.

Agree on the collar. I don't like the look of those at all. For our walks, I'm using Gentle-Leader collars until the boys remember who is in charge and then we'll go back to the regular collars. Still working on the discipline, but I guess that's an on-going thing, like it is with kids.

There's my dog enjoying some pillows. She really, really likes pillows, in fact at times I've come home and found that she has picked up all the pillows from all the furniture in the living room and piled them on one chair, and when I get home she's just laying on all the pillows and when I come in, she just looks at me and lets out a big sigh (probably because she knows I'm going to redistribute the pillows...)

bless you man :yahoo: we always have a dog from a shelter, just too many out there longing for a loving home...

I had to put my beloved dog down last week. She was 17. When I got her she was tied to a tub in the dog pound, about to be put down. So she had 16 more years with me. A frisbee catcher and one of the most intelligent dogs I've ever known. Never once in the 16 years I had her did she growl at anyone with angry intent. So it makes me happy to know that you are saving a dog and giving it a second chance. More power to ya, and thanks.

Congrats and good for you for adopting. He's a handsome fellow and I'm sure you'll give him a great home.

Afraid that I'll have to take the dissenting view on the pinch collar though. I see nothing wrong with them when used correctly for training. My weimaraner would not stop pulling when walked and we needed our 11 and 13 year old girls to be able to control him when he was on a leash. The pinch collar was the only thing that worked and most trainers agree they are more humane than choker collars. He needed it for about a month and now he has just a regular nylon collar.

Nice doggie. But prepare to get dragged in if you even go near water anywhere. I swear, I have never seen a breed that is more closely related to a fish or duck. Obsessive even, but great personalities.
