Advice Sought for B2B2B Attempt

My plans to attend the SWFOG have been unwillingly changed. Since I cannot attend, and have the following

2 weeks available, I am trying to piece together a ride plan. What I would like to do is a B2B2B and then

visit my son in Spearfish, SD, and still make it back to Des Moines, IA in time to pick my wife up from the

airport for a 2-up ride in the Smokey Mts. (Catching the EOM) Then heading back to Florida.

I don't have much time to plan and I have many questions.

I am looking at the I-15 route. Thinking about starting in Canada and round tripping from there.

Hopefully all my questions on Mexico will be answered via PM. I could use a witness/ and or guide into

Mexico for a quick turn around. My spanish sucks (Ask my wife) and I could use any help available.

If anyone else wants to make this run with me- shoot me a PM. I will not be running aux. fuel as it

is a choice between that and my wife having a seat to sit on on the return.

Reading some ride reports, but could use direct advice from those that have done this ride.

Here is what an idea of what I am planning:

Leave West Palm Beach in route for Coutts (2700+ miles) 2 days (September 10th am-12th am)

After a extended sleep...

Depart Coutts for either Mexicalli or San Luis (Monday late or Tuesday mid am)

round trip back to Coutts. Hopefully 48 hours.

Advice Please....

Northern Witness (?)

Southern Witness (?)

Routing Advice- Mexican reciept- Motel in Coutts- ?-?-?...

I will be running SPOT for witness meet-ups

Hopefully I will aquire another GPS by then.

I did the B2B Insanity last year, leaving from the Andrade (Algodones) MEX crossing west of Yuma, AZ and ending in Coutts. Andrade is an easy/painless crossing but limited hours. Receipt was good at the PEMEX about 1/4 mile from the border. No need for a hotel in MEX, there's a big indian hotel/casino a few miles north of the border on the US side. Beemerdons is the man for more detailed MEX info. Depending on when you do this I could ride down to the border and witness for you.

thats the one. I remembered you had recently done this ride, but could not locate the post. Yes, Beemerdons IS

the man on Mexico- I bug him all the time.

The Mexican border times will fit in fine with my idea for the ride. I am thinking about a late morning start

from Coutts- timed for crossing, then I would have the daylight to work my way back to I-15 for the nightime

slab ride back to Coutts.

Congrats on your B2B and better yet, your finish in the IBR. Man that 3 digit number looks good !!!

You know I would MUCH rather be heading out to the SWFOG with you. I was so looking forward to

the area rides that are sitting north of there. Now I will settle for a B2B2B attempt, as the oppertunity

seems right. Little planning is so typical for me. I really need to break this habit. This ride is just one

that I have always wanted to try. If I can pull this off, I will be tempted to try the "Bad as you want.."

ride in Oct. That Travelman has put together. Next year is becoming fully booked already too. With

a UCCC attempt on the Dakar in June and a couple rally attempts later on.

You will have a great time- take some photos and do a R.R. for us less fortunate non-attendees.

This ride will be a consolation prize for me.
