There are 2 sides to this coin!

If you want performance more air has to get through leaving less filtratioin.

If you want filtration less air gets through and more partitcals ge trapped.

You can't have it both ways. (JMO)

Its that simple.

I only read the article quickly, but they only 'tested' half the filters performance. The other part of the equation is air flow ability. Seems to me if the stock filter flowed enough air for the motor - it'd be a no brainer.

Yes, if the air box/filter flow enough air for the engine's requirements -- then you can have both: enough volume and clean.

Only if the air box/filter is (too) restrictive.....

The only (really effective) way to get more air into an engine is to force it in with a turbocharger or supercharger -- otherwise, it just sucks air through the existing air box/filter (and, if it's big enough? -- that's all it'll suck....)

If the choice is between more air or clean air (and engine health is at all important?) -- I'd choose clean air...

And, if you need more clean air? -- you probably need a bigger air box/filter...?

And there are those who have been running old Chevy & Ford V8's without air filters in the mid west for years without any engine damage.

I've been using K&N's on all my vehicles, about a million miles so far without any issues.

You could probably run the FJR a hundred thou. without any air filters and have no internal engine issues as well.
