Atmospheric pressure is sometimes defined as the force per unit area exerted against a surface by the weight of air above that surface at any given point in the Earth's atmosphere. In most circumstances atmospheric pressure is closely approximated by the hydrostatic pressure caused by the weight of air above the measurement point. Low pressure areas have less atmospheric mass above their location, whereas high pressure areas have more atmospheric mass above their location. Similarly, as elevation increases there is less overlying atmospheric mass, so that pressure decreases with increasing elevation. A column of air one square inch in cross-section, measured from sea level to the top of the atmosphere, would weigh approximately 65.5 newtons (14.7 lbf). The weight of a 1 m2 (11 sq ft) column of air would be about 101 kN (10.3 tf)

In addition to mattster31's reply, there's also the owners manual. Yamaha makes them available on line - Cliky Here for air pressure knowledge

What is it?
I was going to answer with another "silly" quip but I thought perhaps you are serious or hopelessly clueless, so........

1st, I went looking in the FAQ section, checking both Gen I & Gen II...nope, it's not there.

2nd, I used our friend Google and found this: tire pressure site:fjrforum.com

OR, I could have read my owners manual.

My last and worst otion would have been to come to the FJR Forum and not expect to get pummeled (or dogpiled) by the expert owners.

Personally (250 lb.+ rider) I run mine @ 40 lbs unless I'm heavily loaded, then 42 lbs.

From the first, Warchild and others have contended that 42 lbs. is the best "overall" tire pressure and best mileage. Others who ride at a more sporty pace, set theirs a little lower for maximum traction for cornering @ 9/10ths.

Jeez. I thought I woke up feeling lazy today!! :****:
It's seems to be a recurring theme with him...borderline leech. I see way more questions and jabs than contributions.
Not sure if you mean the O.P. or me. cant decipher the sarcasm because your clicky no worky.

If you mean Me, I'm sorry you feel that way, but you know what they say, "opinions are like *******'s, everyones got one." And I'm certainly not the only one throwing jabs around here. This place lives, breathes, and ***** Jabs.

Him, not you.

Link fixed.

I'm quite comfortable in my historical ratio of contribution vs. jabs. ;)
