The Air France picture -- I had a landing just like that at the airport in Johnson City, TN while on the way to a business meeting with Texas Instruments. Some times you feel really alive after you were just nearly dead

interesting pics.... some are pretty frightening.... ugh. i hate flying.

AGREED!

I hate it in the worst way. Fight the traffic, stand in lines, get undressed, get redressed, wait at the gate, wait to board, wait to take off, sit in a seat 3" to narrow on a 4 hour flight, wait to get off the plane, wait for your baggage, wait for a rental car, wait to fight traffic out of the airport!

The airports now have the same flavor as trying to register an out of state salvage vehicle at the Motor Vehicle Department.

I'd rather stand on my head in a pile of manure than fly on an airline.

i also detest flying -- but statistics don't lie....

actually figures don'e lie -- but certainly liers figure.

<snip> Still - flying is much safer than these bikes we ride.
Indeed - ran into the "live to ride - ride to die" website yesterday ...

Ya don't suppose the rise in deaths per mile (from 14 [1997] to 32 [2004] (relative to deaths per mile in automobiles) has anything to do with repeal of mandator helmet laws ?? There are other factors of course - aging riders [guilty], etc. , but ... damn. Or may be cars got twice as safe all of a sudden??

If nothing else, a forceful reminder that riding has inherent risks and managing those risks means things like ATGATT [for yours truly, anyway] and assuming that every cage out there is trying to kil me...

Be careful out there.

BTW - I did try to search for old threads on this - I assume they're out there - but the search engine chokes on the literal string "live to ride - ride to die" - 'to' and 'die' are below the 4 character limit.
