Well been thinking its time for some new cans on the 2008. I am aware of the Remus Hexacone - always figured those would be the cans. But, I have always been partial to Akrapovic - had a set on my V-Strom. I did not think Akrapovic made exhaust for the feejer. But, it looks like they do... is this new for the 2013 model? Anyway- the Akrapovic fit all years it looks like. Does anybody on the board have a set? They are expensive - $1300 bucks. Not sure the tone and sound quality. Remus Hexacone is less expensive.

What say you?

I have the Vance and Hines CSOne and really like the sound and looks.

Here is a sound clip of the FJR with the CSOne, (not my bike)

Staintunes and Akrapovic never need re-packing. Something to consider. I have a set of Holeshots that need re-packing, swapped them out with the stockers and never got around to re-packing them, found that I liked the quietness of the stock exhausts over long trips.

I've got the Akra's on my '13, they're very nice. With the db killers in you get a nice 'dark' sound, just a bit louder than stock.

Just tested them last week without the db killers. Althought the camera mic does not do the sound justice, you get some idea in the film clip...

^ practicing for Isle of Man?

I'm sure they sound better in person, but I can't think $1,300 worth. Though, this is more than likely put into perspective by one's expendable income.

Hi @rjen, any chance I can take a look at your video? Youtube says it's private. I also have a 2013 GENIII and I've been considering getting AK vs Yamaha's GYTR.

Some of my fellow K16 friends have Akrapovic aftermarkets (they also make the stock exhaust for BMW on the K16 as well). They sound very sweet on the 6 banger, I'm sure as well with the Feejer!

Good luck in your decision.

OPer here. I made some strategic decisions a while back and decided to go with an Ohlins shock and a re-valve kit on the forks instead of spending $1000 bucks or more on two 'tin cans'.

Ok maybe a bit harsh- but on balance, I will get 1000 times more bang for buck out of the suspension upgrades. Sure exhausts look great and can sound awesome - but, time for a new suspension the feej is telling me.

Well if you ever do get cans, the Remus exhaust does not use the ugly strap, never needs repacking, has db killer inserts included and come in Ti or carbon. Expensive though. If you don't care about those features, there is always much cheaper used stuff out there.

I'd go the suspension route first as well in your place. I bought my bike used with Ti Hexacones already on it so that saved me $$ there to put towards the GoldValves and springs for the fork.

Akrapovic's need repacking, they sell repacking kits for them on-line.

I know SCORPION cans and STAINTUNE have SS mesh and don't need repacking.

Both are Brit cans.

Staintunes are actually Austrailian. Expensive? Yup. Got mine used off this forum, about 1/2 price at 800.00 or so. They were just like new, and 3 years later, still are. Nice choice of loudness with the removable baffles.

No rivets, no straps, no repacking, any scratches can be easily lightly sanded and polished out... all stainless.

And here's the best part: I've saved enough on the cost of rear tires to make them a little more affordable. How bout them apples?

Gary, They look so much better than stock comparing side by side like you did, the pipes that is.. not the CT ;)

Beowulf are made in England and DO NOT need repacking either. There is a nice set for sale on this forum at a very good price.

Saw an article where some cycle mag paid $1600 + or - for AK cans for a KTM adventure bike. Dyno before & after showed

NO gain in hp and slight drop in torque, really makes me want to plunk down big bucks for nothing !! Go with a used set and in the

long run you should be much happier

I'm not thrilled w/the tension springs that fasten the cans to the pipes, they're unsightly (IMO) & the springs are cheesy for such an expensive system. The springs will eventually break even w/the anti-vibe silicone sleeves & removing them easily requires a spring puller or notched flat blade screwdriver, a bit of a PITA.

I'm leaning towards Two Brothers carbon fiber slip-ons for my '14ES.
