All the miles out of this tire

It does go fast toward the end, found this one morning before riding to work

Every time I look at the wear bars and see one that looks like it is almost done I think of this type of picture that seem to show up with frightening regularity on the Forum and I start getting ready to order tires and find someplace to have them changed that doesn't require financing. Tire change price has more than doubled since my first set in 2011. I haven't even looked at current prices and just have this horrible feeling that the cost to change a tire is going to be close to 50% of the price of the tire.

Interesting. My front tends to scrub out on the right hand side and when I have lost confidence in the tyre, usually around the 8000 mile mark, I change it, grudgingly, because the left hand side looks to be good for another 3000 miles. According to Michelin there is no problem, it is due to the camber of the road and if I lived in a country that drove on the right, such as USA or mainland Europe, then it would wear out the left hand side first. Looks like you have disproved that theory.

Front tires usually wear fastest on the left side in right side drive countries. Not just because the road is crowned, but rather because being on the right side of the road all left turns will be of longer duration. The owner of that tire may have a regular ride route that has more right hand turns or a lot of cloverleafs?

I think the prior comments were not about the left vs right wear, but more about the scallop pattern of the steel belt coming through. I'd not be too concerned about that when the tire is so far past it's intended wear limits. I just do not understand how you could be suddenly surprised to see something like that one morning. The tread was past worn out for a considerable time before it got that bad. You would either have to have not been paying any attention to your tires or intentionally trying to milk every last fraction of a penny out of the tire to reach that point.

Fallingsand posted: WOW! Interesting wear pattern. Is that from tire balance or construction or some such?
He thinks left turns are dangerous, and often goes completely around the block to the right to satisfy that compulsion.

I see this wear pattern also... I just don't wait for the ply to show through!

I blame all of the cloverleafs and exits I take on a typical commute. I REALLY like entrances and exits on a boring ride so I accelerate into them, and hardly ever see a left exit or entrance. So freeway blasting has given me LOTS of practice on the right ... and not so much on the left.

YMMV and so may your wear pattern... but I wish we has more twisties around here to even out the wear.

+1 on cloverleafs and big intersection with sweeper right turn lanes.

As for twisties, come on down. We have enough to share: Cherohala, Dragon, and all the really fun ones. Collect your gas receipts on the trip to Asheville and file for an SS1k.
