Almost completed a valve adjust

I set the valves on my 2004 FJR today. Total PITA.

I have this big black Y shaped piece of rubber left over. Can anyone tell me where it goes? I'm drawing a total blank.

It's about 8x10" with two holes in it that obviously go around something!

Any help appreciated.

Been a while since I've had a GEN I apart, but are you referring to the rubber cover(s) that fits around the T-Bar?

Mine lost that when the tick got fixed in 03.

Fits in just under the T Bar. You'll notice two holes in the bottom that the coolant pipes go through which makes it clear how to line it up.

Yeah, well,that's kinda what I expected, but I can't figure out where it goes. I guess I'm a ******.

Does not seem to affect power or smoothness.

The new design cam chain tensioner really stopped the noise that was making me begin to fear I had a ticker.

I can hear a little valve noise now - I expected it since I opened all valve clearances up to maximum. Good thing I'm hard of hearing!
