FWIW...I use a Sangean DT-220V AM/FM Stereo Pocket Size Radio with Self-Storage Headphones purchashed from Aerostich several years ago. It gets TV stations and the FM reception is the best of any small radio I've used. Aerostich no longer carries this model but you can find it on the Web.

here is my solution.

standard car head unit (in this case a JVC) mounted in the top case.

it's waterproof, hidden from prying eyes, and hooked up to my autocom via the autocom lead

designed for just this job.

i have not yet hooked up the remote. thats a job for another day.

and yes, i can still get my hemlet and a bunch of other stuff in the top case.
