Ok, so 2 weeks ago now I was hit while on the FJR - Linky

Short version, I'm mostly ok, small ammount in medical injury/bills, bike has damage and it was the other guy's fault. I contact my Insurance company the day after the accident. They started the claim. Both myself and the driver that hit me have the same insurance company. Problems started right away. Idiot at the claim center, filed the claim under the other drivers policy and apparently didn't even pay attention to the fact that I mentioned I was also a customer and gave them my policy. That was a thursday. When I heard nothing by Monday morning, I started making calls. I got the number of the investigator that was handeling the case, called and left him a vmail (they never answer their phones). Much later in the day, he called me back, takes my statement and then asks who my insurance company is as they are just waiting to get in touch with them to start things. I explained that his company is my insurance company. This changes things. He tells me he's going to redo the paperwork that the claim center hosed up and that I would be contacted the next day by someone assigined to me for this case. Tuesday goes by nothing happens. Wed morning, my wife stars making calls because I've now gone back to work.

Finally hear from the investigator assigned to me late Wed. She's going to put a rush on things since it's already been a week. On Thursday, we had to call her again, but she did call back. Tells me, she'll have an adjuster to the dealership late that day or on Friday. We hear nothing by the end of Friday. Called yesterday and just get her vmail first thing in the morning. Hear nothing by noon. I get my local agent involved and he's going to try and get some traction form higher up in the company.

Finally hear from the investigator around 1pm, and she said we should hear from an adjuster by 3pm. 3pm comes and goes, no contact. Leave investigator another Vmail. My local agent calls back around 5pm, says he can't get the investigator to call him back either, informs me he's going to the Claims Avocate Dept firt thing Tuesday morning because this is total BS and I shouln't get this kind of treatment. I agree and finally feel like something is working in my favor.

So today is Tuesday. Investigator calls back this morning and says that an adjuster still isn't assigned to my case, will be today and that they should be out to the dealer where my bike is at sometime on Wed. She called before I got to work so I just got the vmail.

So that will make it two full weeks since the accident. My bike has been at the dealership all that time and they can't order any parts untill the insurance company gives the green light. Am I just being impatient or is this a normal ammount of time to wait before things start getting in motion? I've never really had to deal with something like this so to me I would thing they should have been out there by the Monday following the accident at the very latest.

Am I wrong here? I've mostley healed up, ready to be riding again, and at this rate, my bike isn't going to be back on the road till mid/late September which doesn't sit well with me. I dunno, what to you all think?

You are not wrong. That is far too long before they even get things rolling.

My wife got rear ended the day before Father's Day and our van was completely fixed in less time.

When our house caught fire last year, we had a check for $10,000 "to help with the transition" in 2 days.

Who is your insurance company, cuz they suck!

Not going to mention the company name just yet, as I want to give them a chance fix things. Reason is, I think it's just this one investigator causing the real problem. I think of myself as pretty fair, and I don't want to bash a whole company because one slacker fouls it up.

And in all fairness, the instant I called my local agent, things started happning. Being that he's the guy I deal with the most, well, you see where I'm going.

I'll keep this updated as things go. At this point I wanted to make sure I am somewhat justified in being pissed.

You're not out of line Calimus. I messed up my bike when I hit a deer 2 weeks ago. Here's the thread if you want to see the damage. The bike was towed to the bone yard Monday, 8/13. I contacted my insurance company, gave them the information, and got a claim number that day. I contacted a repair guy my sister knew to get the bike to his shop. I couldn't meet him at the tow yard until Thursday morning. He hauled the bike to his shop, did the estimate, and sent it to the insurance company. He repairs a lot of bikes in this area, and the ins. adjusters know him and accepted his estimate. I had the insurance check the next day, Friday. I hope this helps (but probably just pisses you off). Good luck.

Sounds like a load of crap from your Insurance Co.

I totaled a bike last year (don't ask) and had a new one in my garage in 2 weeks.

Not only did they cut me a check for the new bike (minus the devaluation of course, which was quite reasonable), they picked up the sales tax if I bought it within 30 days.

AND they wrote me another check for my helmet, which they took (the helmet not the check).

Not quite the way I would recommend upgrading from an '05 to an '06. But hey, all is well that ends well.

Good luck...

Well, looks like calling my local agent was the right move. So far I've heard from the claims center 4 times today. Initially to apologize and let me know they are putting a rush on things. Then to let me know that they would have an adjuster out to see the bike tomorrow. 3rd call was to inform me that the Claim Advocate didn't like the previous arrangement and that they would have an adjuster out today. 4th call was from the adjuster himself to let me know that he was on site at the dealer and was read to start looking things over.

So, it would appear that things are finally starting to roll in the right direction. Now to see if the newly gained momentum holds out.

Man, can't even finish typing, adjuster has called a second time, to see about getting info on the holeshots, wind screen and bar ends.

I totaled my bike July 1st and hd the money within 2 weeks and the new FJR the following week. Part of the problem is that you are both with the same insurance company. Don't be surprised if they find you 50 % at fault just so they can hit you and the other driver with a surcharge.

That will start a hell of a law suit. I have a police officers statement to what happened as he was a witness to the accident. However, they already waived my deductables and told me my premiums wouldn't be affected by this accident. So if that changes on top of all this other BS, I think I'll be owning an insurnace company. Well, maybe not owning it, but I'll get a nice little chunk for myself.

However, at least you've had a positive experience. Mine is starting to look up.

Thanks for you input so far guy's, it's been a big help.

For me, it took 2 1/2 weeks. But, I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Kinda hard to pick up the new one till you get out.

They haven't done right by me just yet. This is just the first step. Still have my Med bills, deminished value, Pain & suffering (Ga law required apparently) and gear replacement value.

So still a ways to go. If the rest starts to take a good path, I'll drop a name.
