I usually have the top box loaded, so it makes it a little harder with the extra weight. Here's what I do. Rear suspension lever to stiff, front wheel straight, then do as others suggest. On other tip, is lube the pivot for the centerstand!!!! I had a Venture that weighed close to 900 lb. I couldn't get it on the centerstand even adding progressive fork springs, pumping the shock/forks to maximum. I had to run the rear tire up on a 1x4 piece of wood. I oiled the centerstand, presto!!

Here's my method that I posted somewhere else before:

"From one who hadn't put a bike on a centerstand since the Honda 55 in '64 and thought I'd never be able to get this heavy ******* up: without knownig the trick, you can stand on the stand and lift straight up 'til you thnk you've put a hole in your foot and your *** is going to tear apart but not much good will happen.

Here's the key:

When you "lift" with your right hand, it's not really a "lift".

EDIT: Start with the handlebars straight and your left hand on the left grip, right hand on the grabhandle or seat rail.

After you put your foot on the stand, settling it onto the ground, try pulling back and up at about a 45 degree angle; i.e., half way between straight up and straight back. This will natually cause you to do a correponding motion with your foot, pressing down and forward. The bike will roll slightly to the rear and magically pop up on the stand. Nearly effortless - really unbelievable at first, especially if you're bathed in sweat from trying to lift it onto the stand.

Keep the handlebars straight."

The hand hold is used more for balancing than to expert much force, really. It should pup up on the center stand very easily.
What? It takes an expert? And what's this **** about puppies? I think I'm offended!

Really.....that Ignacia typo was the ONLY one I have EVER made......

I tried that actual handhold today. Turns out you can't get your hand in there with winter gloves on. Think I'll stick to the grabrail.

Whatever works, right?

I'm 5'9 inches and 125 lbs.

Uhhhh? Hmmm...
Sounds physically impossible, I know.

I am, indeed, a stick-man.

At 49, I have accidentally worn my 16 year old daughter's Wranglers to work after raiding the fresh laundry...

Never tipped the scale at over 134 lbs, when I was a swim fanatic and always hungry.

My aplogies to those who think this is freakish.

The shadow of my *** weighs a 134 lbs..........

I can't seem to get it up.

Sounds Typical for guys my age....

Actually, it's the '05 I need help with.

Do I need a full-time passenger to provide assistace? I would prefer one with the soft, pendulous sort of pecks often favoured for photos in bike mags. Recommendations/referrals gratefully accepted.

**** are for kids Opus,

What you really need is a 2"x6" x12" board with one end bevelled (sp) at about a 45 degree angle. Just back the rear wheel onto the board and she'll jump right on the center stand using all the various methods listed earlier. The extra 1 1/2" lift the board gives will turn you into a BEAST.

Try it and you will be very pleased.

PS......You don't need to thank me, this tip came right from this Forum. Good stuff.
