So where does my wife fall on the IBA/CBA scale? She did her SS1000 on her Virago 250 [nominal 2.5 gal tank, about 2 gal useable] in her second year of riding, and rode it about 20K miles in 12 months doing the IBA "Master Traveler" challenge. She needs to look for gas at about every 100 miles. She revels in the challenge of doing rides on a motorcycle that most folks wouldn't consider even buying as a "beginner's bike" or being worth commuting on.

The point, IBA or CBA, seems to be doing the riding that makes you happy. Happy for some means pushing beyond what seems comfortable, for others it is an escape from having to "do more, go faster." I'm not happy riding the local poker rides, but some folks think that those events are just the best way to spend a day. More is not necessarily better, but if more miles per day makes you happy or feel satisfied, go for it. If stopping and seeing anything and everything is what grabs your fancy, do it.

I admire IBR participants. I admire folks who commute day in and day out. As Bustanut's signature line says, ****** just ride.
