This is a list of my suggested accessories to have for any motorcycle enthusiast. They aren’t in order of importance, and some might be more valuable to some riders than others. I’m going to leave out certain items such as essential riding gear, like helmets and jackets. I might make a separate list for gear to wear with some research behind it. (All links are just suggestions). I will add to this list if I come across any other useful items. 1. Tail Bag~ $50+

A tail bag is extremely useful for storing anything from tools to even full face helmets. It will eliminate the need for carrying a backpack which can be annoying and make going for a ride not as enjoyable. I have my suggested links below:

Here’s a link to a tail bag that can hold a full face helmet:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RGQ1PDC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_6&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Here’s a link to a tail bag that can hold other misc. items but NOT a helmet:

2. Frame sliders~ $20+Frame sliders will help protect your bike from damage if it falls over or is laid down. They are mainly for protecting your frame from damage but certain models can be used to protect your fairings as well.

Here’s an example, they can range in pricing depending on your bike and the company:

3. 12v Car Charger (If you have a plug of course)~ $10.99Going on a long drive? This small investment will save your phone’s battery on long drives especially if you’re using it for GPS or music. (Granted you have a 12v charger on your bike)

Android car charger:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JK5UKE2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=A2G9F8583IEZ3M

Apple car charger:

4. Master Multi-tool with sockets~ $13.19Don’t want to carry a ton of tools while you ride then grab one of these. It will help with minor repairs while on the go, it’s small, and has a variety of tools.

Take a look here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003179N52?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_4&smid=AN638R3PFM9Y5

5. Reflective Rim Tape~ $37This tape is a safety item which will help in being visible to other drivers from the side. It also happens to look awesome and gives your bike a Tron look. It comes in many different colors.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G5RTYYK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_5&smid=A21JCJ19UN8DCH

6. Disk Lock~ $35+Protecting your investment should be at the top of your list of essential items to have as a motorcycle enthusiast. They can come with motion alarms too so shop around for what brand meets your needs. Below is a basic hardened steel lock.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007MMBMP6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_7&smid=A1P4Q6WVP7QBZ3

7. Phone Mount~ $12In combination with a GPS app you could just use your phone as a GPS instead of purchasing a dedicated unit. It mounts directly to your bikes handle bars and has multiple safety persuasions in keeping your phone safe. It will also make changing songs or taking calls easier. (Don’t use your phone while in motion and pay attention to the road!)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013MDDEDG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_9&smid=A13ERCCN9HCJ61

8. Helmet Bluetooth~ $97If you like to listen to music, radio, or even communicate with fellow riders then a helmet bluetooth is an essential tool for you. Sena makes some great units that range from under $100 to even $300. Below is a basic level entry unit for under $100

9. GPS or GPS Phone App

Google Maps tends to be the best GPS app for me at least. When it comes to a dedicated GPS’s I have used a TomTom 400 rider before and it worked great for my use.

10. Bungee Cords~ $13

Keeping bungee cords on you can be very useful if you ever need to strap down something. Some things you can strap down are: covers, backpacks, broken parts, and bags of food. I took a short 500 mile ride up to the top of Wyoming on my old 84 Yamaha Venture and bungee cords saved my butt by strapping down some of my bags to the rear seat which allowed for my back to not be strained by a heavy backpack.

Also let me know of any suggestions for this list if you have any. I just want to make a complete list and this is what I have so far.

In the lower right corner (of the Full Version) you should see an edit button. If it's not there then it may well be because you don't yet have enough posts allow to editing. You may want to send a PM to an Admin.

Unless you have a tail rack the Nelson-Rigg bags cited are too big to mount on the passenger seat. For day rides I have a $25 tail bag from Cycle Gear. It fits perfectly on the passenger seat and holds everything I need that is not already under the seats. I do not use the side hard bags unless on multiple days touring.

Don't forget to list a LED flash light. Depending on where you are riding and camping, you may want a S&W 357 where it can be accessed quickly!!

Alright everyone I'll make some changes to the list when I can figure out or gain access to full editing capabilities. How do you PM an admin for this access? Thanks!

Add .45 ACP.

DELETE the bungees! If we meet I'll show you the bridge I wear to replace the tooth I lost to a wayward bungee. Could'a put'a eye out.

Add one gallon Starbucks coffee bladder and 3 feet of aquarium hose as a back-up fuel source. Got the new bladder for free at a Starbucks; packs-up to about the size of two decks of cards.

You can mount a Nelson-Rigg tailbag in place of a rear seat. https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/160787-economical-alternative-to-the-smuggler-trunk/

On the home page of the Forum, at the bottom right corner (see a trend here ?) click on The Moderating Team and send a message to someone like Bounce or Ignacio.

Two items I would suggest and that always go with me.

1) A light and inexpensive set of rain gear. For me it is Frogg Toggs. And not just for rain, but if the weather drops unexpectedly, especially spring or fall, they can really help.

2) Glass cleaner and a cloth. I purchased a small spritzer and then wrap it in a small microfiber cloth. It can make a huge difference...
