After years and years and years of "By god, this is the year I take in Sebring" but it never actually happens, by God, this is the year I take in Sebring!!!!

I used to go to the 24 at Daytona just about every year. Then they killed Group C and went to the open cars like the Ferrari 333SP. Not quite the same, but it turned out those were some damn nifty cars, too! So I went to a few of those.

Then GrandAm and DMG formed their demonic alliance and the Daytona Prototype was born. A more boring conveyance of race drivers has never been conceived or implemented.

Scratch that. A more boring conveyance for road racing drivers has never been conceived or implemented.

But the American LeMans Series, with real cars, with international appeal and significance, runs just a bit further down the road every spring. Now them are some nifty cars, and still running with some high technology. I've just not ever been able to either scrape up the ticket and food dough, or convince the employer that I needed some time, or whatever.

Well, that's all done with this year!!!!

I'm headed down Thursday. Streets and Trips says it's just over 6 hours, which is a lie, because Orlando is nearly 6 hours and it's freeway all the way! The last 90 minutes or 2 hours to Sebring is US highway, with towns, traffic lights, and Radiohowie's home town. So you KNOW there's gonna be a delay, as there's gonna have to be some sort of gastric experimentation, and I think I've been promised an introduction to his favorite manatee's sister!

I'll probably take my camera, too, and see if I can whip up some cool shots of incredible cars and drivers.

I hear ya. I'm a little over an hour from Mid Ohio and rarely make it to a race. I think I'll follow your example and make it a point to catch at least one event this year. Here's a few pics from the ALS in '02.

Fook, less than an hour? You can go to the race track from your house!??!??!

You'd damn well better take something in, or I'll punch you in the face if I ever see you in person!

Now THIS is my kinda thread. Skip the races Gearman...I wanna see some asskicking!

Haha...If I lived anywhere near one of those tracks, I think I would go a lot. This year, MC racing at Albuquerque's Sandia Motor Speedway kicks of on April 17th. Gonna try to go and see what I can see...So I don't get punched in the face. :) :p
