Well we pissed a lot.....Wow what a road, we never saw a single cop all the way from I-15 to La Canada....

Ride report is HERE

R
Nice ride report.

Too bad you can't go with the "cool" crowd riding up tomorrow. We know that you had to settle, but really…

You know you’re welcome to join us. I promise not to go too fast.

Sante Fe Dreamin - There can be little doubt the Saturday crowd holds a much higher status in the world of FJRs. We ride faster and better, have better looking bikes, women fall at our feet and, not the least of our assets, we are all far, far more handsome than the Friday crowd. That being said, I think we should humble ourselves and not humiliate the Friday group.

Yes, I hardily agree. Yet, it is quite difficult when finding our excellence shining so brightly.

Alas, in the spirit on good fellowship, we will grant the Friday Riders a place, all be it lowly and far, far, far on to one side, a place of their own.

Ride Report:

OK, let’s begin at the end – the long ride home. Verrrrrrrrrrry interesting!

Now to the beginning. We met right on time: Santa Fe Dreamin, pegscrapper & MsNASCAR, Neal San Diego & Janet, Slappy, Lawrence and wife, JLBFJR, amansker and wife. pegscrapper shared MsNASCAR prepared brownies with the gathered masses and the “OOOOOSSSS” and “AHHHHSSS” were deafening! Just before leaving I laid out our undertaking as simply and directly as I could: “There’s a slight chill in the air, it’s misting, we’re driving up into the mountains where we’re suppose to meet up with a thunderstorm and we’re on bikes. What more could we ask for?”

With my precision timing and incredible navigational expertise, we made only one wrong turn but arrive exactly on time at the fuelling stop only to find two nefarious characters annoying the locals: FJRbluesman (the Yellow wimp) and ynotride.

Sitting in the station we watched hordes of raging HDs pass heading up Rt. 18 thinking all the while “They will be a pain in the *** to ride behind.” Well, as we followed, believe it or not, they waved us forward. Probable because they were too afraid to lean there overpriced mettle into a turn.

Stopping several time (possible several times too many) for photo opportunities, we arrived just after the rains hit the Angel’s Crest highest altitude. Again, all due to perfection in time allocation and meticulous planning. But between the rain-soaked road and voluminous debris from the mountains above… What can I say; it was very interesting. Slappy commented that he’d “…never seen so many boulders in the middle of the road.”

Well, finnnnnnnnnnnnally, we made it to Los Gringos Locos in La Canada for lunch. And what a fine lunch it was. Other then the waiter being in a rotten mood, the food was filling and the conversation was lively. Although, having to split into to two groups for seating, I found that those that surrounded my table were the most accommodating, vivacious and kooth of all the attendees. Now I will make one exception for MsNASCAR (who sat at the other table) remembering that she did bring us brownies.

278.0 miles for me. How about you?

Thanks to all who attended our fault-free ride. Here’s hoping you had a good time and will return for more.

Johnny8: I have pictures of the brownies and Simon has pictures of the food. How the hell do you post pictures?!?!?!?!??!?!

OK! Who’s going to plan the next ride?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

2) Lanny! You are so full of GLITCH!!! And modest, too. :p

Excellent ride, thanks mucho. Great meeting two new FJR members, John and Lawrence (and Pillion). Lots of fun, we just got there after the rain, and a great lunch thanks. :yahoo:

It was only 223 miles for me. ;)

Home safe and sound at about 3:30pm (tons-O-traffic :angry2: ). Left Neil and Janet to go south on the 55 Frwy. :D

Great ride all. Sorry for ditching everyone on the way home when the traffic started. After split...umm sharing lanes for about 5 minutes I looked back and no one was behind me :assassin:

Made it home around 345 with just under 200 miles.

We had a great time. Got home at 4:30pm. Great choice of restaurant for lunch. I was surprised to see 342 miles on the odometer - Vista to Vista. I zeroed out the 2nd tripmeter before leaving. Neil, is that what you got? Prescot, AZ was only 400 miles.

Photos to come.

Let's do the report on "RIDE REPORTS"

Arrived home safe at about 7 pm (after our detour thru Costa Mesa), with 308 miles on the GPS. Great time, thanks to all!

Next ride: "Slapy does Southern San Diego County". I'll let that image percolate for a while... :worriedsmiley:
