Got home last night after the tech meet and a week of riding the feejmobile (and horses), over in Gifford Pinchot NF in WA, and the wide sandy beach in Nehelem, OR. Thanks to all for the help on getting my spider bites fixed. Dave for sacrificing his '06 so I could see all the spider locations before tearing into mine, Niehart for the knowledge of how to disassemble an FJR fairing without breaking all the important bits, Harald for his extensive knowledge and dexterity and willingness to dive right in, Marcus for the same and for the help on reassembly when my big fat grub hooks would simply not fit in the frame, Panman, "its what we do," for running to the hardware to fetch screws and Loc-Tite, and for reassembly of my lock barrels, to George, for running him to the hardware and to Auburn, Mrs. Auburn, and the whole Auburn family for the hosting and fantastic food, and to everyone else who contributed in any way to the refit of my black cherry '07, you know who you are, a thousand thank-yous. What a great gathering and meeting place. A couple more times and I'll get all the names and faces connected. Oh and to Panman and all who commented on my rear tire...yeah you had it right. It failed on me going down the backside of 410 east of Mount Rainier on the way home. I had just passed a car and made a hard right turn, bike felt squirrelly and hard to "push," into the turn. Turned off immediately and checked out the bike. Found nothing wrong on the front end but then noticed the flat rear tire. Of particular note...the tire was about 2000 degrees!! The edge compound felt soft as a sponge. It had to have been smoking on that turn. I had pulled into a convenience store and they had a compressor. Filled the tire and was able to limp on to Ellensburg. Baby had new shoes next day before noon. Ellensburg Powersports, (A.K.A. Yamaha Jack's), lifted a few hundies off me but got me back on the road just in time to ride through Spokane rush hour in the heat of the day!! Never cared for the slab but I had to get home! Thanks Again to everyone!!
