Has anyone ever had FJR wheels polished and anodized.....or know of any reason this could not work??

No one makes custom wheels for our steeds so I'm looking for my own way to uptick the FJokeR. My thought is to have the aluminum cast wheels polished and anodized out. If for some reason, anodizing isn't recommended for our cast wheels due to aluminum quality or something.....is powder-coating the next alternative to a high-quality customization of the wheels?

THanks for any experiences or more in-depth knowledge of anodizing than I have.

Yes there are some folks that have polished out their rims to make them look chrome like.

CLICKY

The wheels could also be chromed for about $500 /pair and they look great but I wouldn't reccomend it. The chrome chips off easily and starts to pit and corrode in about 2 years. I would go with polishing which makes it easy to remove scratches and restore shine.

Anodozing doesn't hold color with age. Look at your rear brake master cylinder. I'd go powder.

Had my VFR wheels powder coated, they looked awesome. I prefer that to the chrome / polished alternatives. Although one has to take the wheel bearings out, the seals etc.

Just called a local place and plan on having my 2011 Red Versys wheels done in a dark yellow. It's a dark red so that should match up pretty nice. Then I'm going to put DUCATI stickes on the fairings :)

KieeFJR had his either anodized or powdercoated blue to match his bike. They look frigging cool. Search his forum name and you'll find his profile with a pic of his bike and prolly the thread where he talked about it. PM him and see what he did and what he thinks of it 2 years later.

I'd love to do mine black.

I was going to polish my wheels on the outter lip and powdercoat the center black, but for now I will just polish the lip. Let me know if your going to do it I may have mine done at the same time, they charge a min so it will cost us less if we do more than one set. Here is a local powdercoating co.
