Every time I've ever thought about buying an RT, something always goes wrong with them.
Rather buy a real RT on historic registration, a R90 or R100, much more reliable bike.

KJ just hasn't come to grips with the fact that his SIX CYLINDER Deutschland Zeppelin at Mercedes-Benz prices is in a different class from the FJR. For what it costs and what it comes with standard (for a price) it had better be a better bike.I'm sure KJ will be along shortly, to remind us how great BMW really is...

So this is ANOTHER mode of final drive failure? I thought the usual was a seal or bearing failure and flames or some such "inconvenience". How in hell does BMW continue to avoid engineering a real fix when its customers are experiencing multiple iterations and modes of these catastrophic failures? Call Yamaha and license its final drive technology already.

I have a bumper to bumper 3 year factory warranty that came w the bike (triple that of my FJR). I usually don't keep bikes beyond that anyway but so far it has been flawless to a T. With the money I spent, I will be the first to ***** and complain, trust me.What you don't realize is how much money the man paid for that BMW.
