We had another great evening in the company of lots of the BSB paddock last night raising more money for the Chris Jones Memorial fund.

Chris Jones was a 14 year old 125 rider who died 2 years ago after a starting grid pile up. His parents realised that a trackside scanner would have made it easier for the doc's to be able to diagnose what was wrong, instead of waiting for a helicopter to take him to hospital. Chris died in the helicopter from internal injuries. His parents started the fund raising and within a season and a half raised the £100,000 required. It was so succesful that they kept fundraising and were able to finance a helicopter to stand by at the circuit for some meetings.

The fund raising goes on for a mobile hospital similar to the clinique mobile that travels with the MotoGP circus. James Toseland's band 'CRASH' have had a lot to do with it all and have made dozens of appearances free of charge. They do lots of covers of 'old school' rock bands like ZZTOP, The Police, Status Quo and the Stones as well as modern day stuff, and they do it well. (They were formed and had the name long before the CJ fund was started).

A great night. I have some video that I will try and upload.

(During the auction James's scarf ....a christmas present....sold for £40).

What a great way for him to participate in a wonderful fundraiser.
He is a great ambassador for the sport and stood for an hour signing autographs and posing for photo's during the break in the music for the auction. At the world superbike rounds in the UK he would often organise signing sessions and always stayed until there was no-one left wanting an autograph, on one occasion until 8pm after a days racing.

Feejer222, I have to give you credit. You're posts are mostly racing related; not a mainstream topic on this forum. Yet, somehow, you personalize the racing experience with posts like this one, and I find myself always clicking on your posts.

This is another great example of fans and racers both benefiting from the racer's experience and willingess to improve the sport.

Thanks again - dcarver

Thanks, and it's a pleasure. I'm never sure how they will be received on your side of the pond. Nice to know they are appreciated.

I was asked by the mods not to post as much stuff that was not FJR related so I have not been on as much, I thought that this was worthy of a mention, glad someone likes it.

James Toseland rides his bike onto the stage at the BBC Sports personality of the year awards show. I think I posted a link to his piano solo on the same show before but have put it below again for anyone who didn't see it.

EDIT - I like to expand my experiences; if someone from across the pond can explain the exctitement in words I understand then I'm keen to read and learn..
