For those who love to ride the twisties a sad day has come. IN 135 south of Story all the way to 50 has been tared and chipped. It will be loose fine gravel for the rest of the year and very rough surface but less loose come spring. Not a road I will ever want to play hard on again.

Well, they have to do that once-in-a-while -- I guess?

Thanks for the info.

The road south from IN46 (Gnaw Bone) to get to Story is a great ride and can really throw you some tricky curves. A few of us riders (years back) stayed overnite in Story -- that was an adventure...!

Have you ever ridden the Deputy Pike (south of Paris Crossing from IN3 to IN7)?

135 is the road south from 46. No I dont think I have ridden Deputy Pike. I have been on 3 & 7 though so I know the general area

Yep, right -- thanks.

You live in great sport-touring country (imo). Actually, US 150 is about as good as they get -- nr. French Lick (sign on the local liquor store says -- "French Licker"...). And the switch-backs on the hill next to the State Park nr. Madison.

I really like Southern Indiana/Brown County (rural IN, in general).... :)

I was in Story, IN a few weeks back, and didn't have time to do 135 south. Another good road is ST Rd 50 from outside of Bedford to Logootee.

If your going to go Bedford to Logootee may I reccomend state road 450 thru Williams next time. One of my favorite runs :)

Did you get a chance to ride state road 66 from Tell City to Sulfur while in our area ? Much like 150 and runs along the Ohio River.

:) That road is 15 minutes from my home in Washington. A typical ride for me is 50east to 550 to 150 to 145 south to 37 south . East on 62 then south on 66 (My favorite). Back north on 37 to 145 north to Birdseye. Then take boring roads back home.

Many great county roads down that way too.

We just rode 135 the weekend after Labor Day, I thought I remembered some road construction signs. When we went through it was fouled with byciclists, some kind of a rally. I like 45 west from Bean Blossom on 135 to Bloomington.

Well I'll be damned.

Anytime I had driven through Indiana (generally heading East to West on the interstate to get somewhere else) I had always thought it was the most boring uninteresting place in the world, second on the boring scale only to Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. But zooming in on "Story, Indiana" in GoogleMaps reveals that the whole center of the state is a series of big National (Hoosier) and state parks intersected with plenty of twisty, curvy roads!!

That's really good to know!
