Its a balmy 45 degrees here today so I thought a trip to town would be good. Bet ya didn't

know Lewisburg is the "Coolest Town in the USA"... Neither did I...

Headed to the Library to try to find out WHY is Lewisburg so cool.

Come to find out its was a travel magazine . They said it was an

internet poll of some sort. Bet only the town of Lewisburg was

told of the poll.. :D

Its a cool town...I guess..but definately NOT the coolest.

But I digress..

The flag was at half mast today...anyone know why?

Anyhow..Guess I'll head over Muddy Creek mountain. Haven't been there in a while.

There is about 2-3 miles of gravel along the way but its mostly packed. Shouldn't

be a problem.

First stop is the covered bridge.

I love the Lewisburg area, ever since attending EOM there in 2007. Great riding in that area. I love WV riding...I'm taking my wife on her first extended riding trip with me...one of the segments will be from Tazewell up to the Seneca Rocks area.

Nice looking 03 you got there! :clapping:

Pic of the creek under the bridge.. Used to be good fishing.

Will be heading up that road to the left of the creek.

Thanks for the bike compliment...Today is my first real ride. I love the bike.

I'm being sincere to. If I didn't I'd say so.

When you get this way..if ya want..I can show you some of the roads here abouts.

Always liked this farm. The "big" house I passed a ways back and didn't get a pic.

The barns and field have more beauty anyway.

My bike is a well thrashed '04...so yours looks really nice in comparison. I think I have the route figured out from previous trips in the area...we'll be headed up Rt 16, heading through the bolt mountain area. She hasn't seen the big steel arch bridge at New River Gorge, so we'll do the touristy thing and see that as well as take a trip to the bottom. Then we'll head west on 60 to Hawk's Nest for another touristy stop...and continue west to Kanawha Falls. Then north and east on 39 to 150 to 219 north to 33 east.

There are a gazillion good roads to ride in the area, but we don't have time to explore...I do think she'll be pretty happy with the roads we take though. :yahoo:

This is half way up the hill. Not really a mountain as the name suggests. If you get more

up toward Snowshoe and Seneca Rocks they're pretty close to what i would call mountains.

We used to live in Washington State..there were mountains there. Thats kind of what I

compare mountains to.

West Virginia is beautiful..and some of the BEST motorcycle roads in the country. The best

thing about living and riding here is the traffic. (or lack of) Washington was horrendous.

Thats part of what got us here. Sitting in traffic for 2 hours to go 20 miles ain't no fun.

Sat here for about 1/2 hour and not a single car went by. :yahoo:

Top of the hill is pretty flat. Elevation around 3000 feet though. They do plow the road

but its the last on their route. If you live up here..plan on being snowed in for a while.

Stopped at this church for a cigarette. I doubt God will mind.

Looking from church across the road. I always wonder about the lives of people who would have built

this farm and lived in remote places like this. Probably not the same as portrayed on TV.. :)

Must have been a hard but peaceful life. Not many distractions...other than work.

Well...we are at the end of our trip thru the West Virginia countryside.

Here's some of the family welcoming me home...

Hey wheaton

Thats a great route. Can't add much other than when you get up toward snowshoe there

are a couple options. One is Cass railroad. You can ride an old steam train to the top

of cheat mountain. The other is the national observatory in greenbank. Both good side

trips if staying near there. You need a good day to do the train thing though.

Oh yea...just before you get on 150 (scenic highway) there is the cranberry glades.

Not out of your way and worth the stop. Neat hiking trail (short) and a visitors

center that tells about the area.

Have fun and let me know if you need anything while here.

Thanks for the tip. May be a good excuse to get off the bike for a few minutes...
