That secret was so poorly kept that I thought it had already been announced. It's nice that it's really official, though. I can't wait to see how Ben will do.

Dennis Noyes on speed.com is saying that benefits should already start flowing Ben's way -- he said Ben's bike should be closer to the factory squad's bike at Indy and probably a couple steps ahead of what Colin Edwards will be riding.

I wonder if that also means that Rossi won't be getting all the updates over the last part of the season...

Problem is that they have to be careful with what they give Ben...specifically with regards to the engines. I understand he's already on his 4th of 6. He could use some tasty front suspension bits.

With a new bike coming out in 2011, and with the championship being Lorenzo's to lose right now, I doubt there is much focus on improving the 2010 bike, so, I don't know that there will be much, if anything, that Rossi will be missing over the last few races of the season.

I'm hoping Spies jumps on Lorenzo's pace next year and keeps it interesting. Would love for Spies to win the Moto GP Championship in 2011.

He still has a ways to go and a lot of tracks to learn, but, this weekend's activities shows that the kid has a ton of potential to be the US' next MotoGP champ.

USGP AT INDY SPOILER WARNING!!!!

The way he controlled the gap to Lorenzo yesterday, I ready to declare the kid a contendah. Sure, maybe Lorenzo wasn't pushing as hard as he could because he doesn't have to, but I think Ben had him covered anyway.

I think he's starting to get some tasty bits from Mamahyamaha. Sure, he's still on the chassis that he started off with this year, but, he's getting goodies. Factory Yamaha techs were in and out of his garage all weekend. Those goodies are getting him tenths of a second. And it's all about 10ths of a second. It's hard to fathom. Just for the hell of it, go here https://www.online-stopwatch.com/full-screen-stopwatch/ hover your mouse over the start button. hit it then hit it again. You'll probably see something between 100 and 200 which translates to .1 sec and .2 sec. Now, hit start, blink your eyes and hit it again. About 300-400? That's .3-.4 sec. You aren't alone. Average speed of an eye blink is .3 to .4 sec. So, keep in mind, over the course of an entire lap, 13+ turns, speeds around 200 mph, the difference between the aliens and the others is a few tenths of a second. The precision is unfathomable. .3 sec per lap x 26 laps is 7.8 seconds over the course of a race. So, next time you see someone 7.8 seconds behind the leader at the end of a 26 lap race, that averages out to the speed of 'the blink of an eye' each lap. There is simply no room for error at this level.

Would love to see the minimum weight to include the rider. That would stick Pedrosa back in the pack where he belongs, so he can't just park it int he corners and then accelerate away due to the weight advantage he has.

Was good to see Spies take off and lead from the start for a little while. I think he is still struggling with the Bridgestone tires still. he has made significant progress though.
