any 08' issues? Seriously looking at a used one to buy

If the recalls are done, then you are looking at a very desirable bike. Personally the 08 black is my favourite. Don't listen to any of the jealous Gen1 naysayers.

The going rate for an unfarkled low mileage one that is not scratched up should be around $8000.
+1

I'm a month and 6k miles into riding my 08, and the biggest problem with it is it sucks down dollars. There's too healthy an aftermarket for goodies for these bikes, and this forum's Classifieds section and the super helpful regional riders groups are toxic to the pocketbook.

The second biggest problem is that it's a great looking bike, and while it's no Ducati, it always gets comments. Heck, my sister-in-law can't stop calling it a "sexy black beast." And that's with a sheepskin seat cover and a car tire, people still think it's pretty. And really, who wants to deal with their sister-in-law thinking your ride is sexy?!? That's just wrong.

Price? I've seen lots of 08s in the 8k-9k range. I got a better deal than that, but my bike had "high mileage" at 54k when I bought it.

Enjoy your new bike.

25,000 miles on mine in MN and no reason to complain!

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm seriously looking at a 2008. Any issues to be aware of on this model year. What were the recalls that needed to be done?

Anything else?

Thanks!
When you asked the question, "Anything else?" you opened the flood gates of the Gen I vs the Gen II controversy, always entertaining. :assassin:

As to the answer of your question, You will love an '08.

If you end up with an Gen I, you will love it as well...not so much. :p

Well, the bike I was looking at was sold by the seller before I could get there........little bummed, but still looking. At this rate I will be looking over the new FJR with bigger engine, 6 speeds, redesigned fairing, turbo, etc etc etc.

Thanks to all who replied.

LOL you need to check your data on the Gen I vs Gen II thingy..longer wheelbase, more relaxed RPM at speed, etc etc.
Not picking on you here, or even taking sides on the generational conflict. But those two statements above can be taken both ways:

Longer wheelbase is good for highway cruizin. Not so much for twisty strafing.

And, same with the higher gear ratio of the second gen. Great for loafing along on the freeway, but not of much use on the tight back roads.

So, it would appear that these two particular changes were made with the (vast majority of the) US market input, that wants the FJR to be more of an open roads hi-speed touring bike on the wide open spaces out west.

It's just preferences, that's all it comes down to. Funny thing is... I've still never turned "too fast" nor hit the rev limit in 5th. :p

Definitely not taking sides, just posting my own research... There was a week between the time my brother told me he was giving me his '06 and when I went back to SF to pick it up. During that week I read everything I could find about the '06 FJR, and every single review I read said that the Gen II has it all over the Gen I in every aspect. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm the FNG, but I did my homework and I'm pleased with what I found. And I love my bike, so it's all good.

My 08 has been great, the clutch was a little sticky untill about 8k but smoothed out nicely. Best bike I have ever had and can not imagine willingly parting with it. Upgrades have been done of course, frame sliders, Power Commander etc. added as personal preference to make it more enjoyable for me, not because they were needed or required. Wonderful machine! :yahoo:
