I just noticed costco has extended this beyond Kawasaki and wondered if anybody had used it. I bought my jetta tdi through Costco program, was a pretty good experience.

I was specifically wondering how they dealt, or didn't deal, with the dealer markups.

I'm not actually in the market right now, but if the experience was good, maybe others would like to hear about it.

Looks interesting, especially for someone like me who does not enjoy haggling. I am not a member so I have no experience.

I used to work at a car dealer that used Costco. Essentially, it's a sales lead generation program. Dealers pay Costco for the information and Costco has no input on pricing, markups or anything else for that matter. Costco does, however, choose to sell the information only to dealers that have more aggressive internet pricing and a good reputation. If Costco gets too many complaints from it's customers about a dealer, that dealer will be dropped from the program. Costco is a solid program but if you're ever buying a new vehicle, your best pricing will typically come from one of the ZAG partners (American Express, USAA, etc.).

Why mess with a "program" to buy an FJR when we already know that D&H Cycles in Cullman, AL has been providing the best price on new bikes since the 2003 model first came in country?

For those dealing with Kafornication's 7500 mile rule on "importing" new bikes, just ride it around for a week or 3 before you register it (I think you have 45 days). That, plus the excellent 3 day ride home and you'll be set.

Well the ca 7500 mikes would be a consideration. I just registered another out of state scooter and the DMV guy , well my guy, checked mileageat purchase, looked up my purchase price to see it was legit, the whole 9 yards. my guy seemed like he wanted to make a big deal, even asked his buddy to verify the vin etc - sheesh

The dealer rep part seemed in my one purchase experience to have some effect, the dealer was not the closest to me by a long chalk, but it was the easiest purchase, haggle wise, and the finance guy got me a better rate than my bank.

Anyway appreciate the responses . Maybe will have to try I out next time don't have to purchase

I've bought a car and truck with the Costco program. Could not be happier. Great discount. No fighting with some scumbag salesman. Will use them again. Did not know Yamaha is in the program, will be checking that out.
