Hey, this **** can be as much fun as any dyno work I've done. Running my std. battery of tests, as I fine tune the setup, is a blast. Right now, running Memtest, I just tuned out a battery of errors with a little bios tuning. It challenges the brain as much as any carb work, or ignition troubleshooting, which for me means fun. When I built my last setup, it was in the top 1% nationally for it's components, and top 5% period, using 3DMark. And that, my friend, is cool.... :D Next up-adding the Nitrous. Can't wait!!

I guess I should have said liquid cooling because you're right, water is not good for electronics. Did you see the experiment where some site or magazine made a sealed case filled with vegetable oil? IIRC, it ran cool & okay.

Memtest? Is that anything like, "Read me, Dr. Memory"? Course, I'd much rather do a Mamtest. And, I usually find that a little Pepto tunes my bios right up. ;)

No, but it's an interesting concept for sure. The clocking guys tend to get pretty wild, what with dry ice and nitrogen and God knows what. I'm just looking for a nice fast system thats as good as it can get and yet still be reliable and last a bit, something clockers are famous for not accomplishing.... ;)

Some of the latest watercooling stuff available now are pretty much self containted as in fix the waterblock on your CPU fill the tank and thats about it. And the best thing is that they are pretty much fool proof (Good for me) and reasonably cheap and quite!

Anyhoo pic time:

PSU in my rig died last week. Luckily I had a spare Antec 450 Watt sitting new in the closet. I dropped in in, powered the rig up and all was good. For about 20 seconds, when my video card spit fire and smoke as it ate itself.

Luckily for me BFG has a lifetime warranty, so my new GeForce 6800 OC in on it's way.

I've been a gamer as long as I've had a PC - I really bought my first PC just to play X-Wing. Lately I've been playing BF2142. I just played through F.E.A.R. (totally awesome game) and had been running through Knights of the Old Republic - one of the best RPG's ever. Some of the boys at work have been playing R6 Vegas, but I don't have it just yet.

4749 3DMark2006. CPU 15% OC, temp at 42C. Not too shabby for a start, more to come. G'night.

Boy and here i thought my HP media center(athlon 64) with 2 gigs of memory and a Nvidia 6800gt card did a good job with Half-life and Far Cry. I tried the water cooling thing......but everyone knew instantly it was a party bong in a poor disguise  Nice setup Rad!

And here i choked when I paid $500+ for my video card

Happy Gaming,

Bryce

Yo Thug, didn't your MB come with a Warning label on the chipset fan, concerning it's use only on a watercooled system, or didn't yours come that way?

Na...didn't see that one....my office is air conditioned so if always a nice temp and being a new rig I am frequently feeling the CPU heat sink and Gcard on idle and under load and the bugger's cool! so no worries with the CPU temp on a standard cooling fan and Sink. When I start to overclock I'll have a decent water cooling system in place just in case.

Cheers

Well, ****! What ever happened to slot cars and Lionel trains?
Man, I miss having a house with a basement. Basements were great for trainsets and slot cars.
Ummm, yes, but so are farm outbuildings. A few years ago, a friend and I built a 70' long track in a former chicken house. I mean, routered 3/4 particle board, 4 lanes, inlaid power strips, grey polyurethaned and absolutely devastating to the unwary. it was the place you wish you could have found as a kid, where you could smoke and drink and race and, ummm, smoke. It was a blast.

Athlon 64 3500+ removed, Athlon 64 X2 4500+ going in. 3500 bottlenecking vid card, 5 thou plus 3dMark here I come.

New gear just installed. Athlon 64 X2 4800+, and a cooler to match

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. Warmed things up, Bios all at default (Auto), so no OC, knocked off a 5756 3DMark06! Best OC'd on the 3500 was a 4749. I am happy, can't wait to get things broken in and clock this baby!

I'm glad you already shipped the corbin seat because I haven't told you yet that I am probably building an intel system. Didn't want you to change your mind. I've built AMD systmes for the last 6 years, but the core 2 duo is so much faster and easier to overclock right out of the box with stock fan. I know, the intel guys are a bunch of *******s, but wouldn't you try to run your competition into the ground???

Traitor. Other comments withheld until check clears. :p

Rad.....wouldn't you be better off with an actual server? ....just askin....being semi techno challenged?....

Servers are great for, ahhh, serving, but not gaming. They are set up for heavy cpu load type work, multiple hard drives, ECC memory, but nothing for video or sound, since they have no need. This place operates through a server, for example, where do you see Need For Speed running here?

You musta been the only kid in MN with a turbo, nitrous set-up on your Rupp, weren't you?
