I can tell you who NOT to go to: Real Chicoine.

I used my selling dealer (not Chicoine) for the 600 miler and they 'forgot' to change the rear drive oil, so while they do good work, thoroughness doesn't seem to be their strong point so I'm not recommending them now.

Thanks bramfrank. So who was your "selling dealer" if it wasn't Chicoine? Let me know so I can stay away from them as well. I'd already been warned about Chicoine by a couple of other people.

No negatives at this time - it might just be the mechanic and I know the owners, so I had a chat with them. Generally they're very conscientious - most of their service work is on Harleys and I KNOW that they do wonders with sport bikes - it might just be the rarity of the FJR in their shop (they sold 1 A (to me) and have 1 AE.

I bought my used 04ABS at Gerald Colin Sport.

Couple of months later, brought it in for the dreaded ticking problem, it was a real faint ticking but they dealt with it real well and got the job done without hassles in about 3 1/2 weeks. Bike came out nicely tuned. One of the mechanics owns a 05 FJR. Can't go wrong there! Service manager is Claude. I've had no problems with them up to now.

Also if you don't ming the distance, there is Jesse McGrath a bit south of Ottawa. He comes highly recommended on the BMW board (I used to own an RT) and also works on Yamaha's. Real nice guy and you can hang around while he does the work. Just not an official Yamaha dealer so no warranty work.

You can call him or e-mail him with any questions, he gets back to you real quicky.

I also heard bad things about Chicoine, I live 10 minutes away from them but will never go there.

Keep us posted on your experiences!
