Just doin' the math, 1500 miles / 156 trips is a < 10 mile stretch of roadway. It'll have to be pretty remote (or an actual track) so as to not get the wrong kind of attention from the local constabulary. It sounds like you already have the secret road picked out.
Exactly what I was thinking. Hitting the same stretch of road 150+ times will certainly lead to tickets.

Take this as a measure of respect and encouragement but this ride CANNOT be done. 1k miles, yes you proved that. 1500 of twisites... 50% too much!!! Too many gas stops, fatigue, etc. Now if they're 90mph sweepers that might be something else but still... :eek:mg2:

nonetheless if you try it be SAFE and enjoy your ride regardless of the mileage!!! :drinks:

I enjoy your BE SAFE attitude and :yahoo: you for saying that.

Gas? That's easy if on a short route. One truck, loaded, with fuel, perhaps with 'coverage' to ensure YW is 'on time', 'regular' and I can see how this could be done.

I'm not kidding, I've actually looked at 229 near me and wandered about it..

but I'm a CS and CBA type so it's off the charts.

Unless...

Woofie, I say best to you -

Just stay safe, in your limits, whatever they maybe on the continuum scale.

Oh, :yahoo:

Edit -

If I was closer and/or had time,I'd support Woofie and his attempt by doing whatever I could.

In late 2006 on the LDRider list, there was a huge discussion of the IBA's BBG "Trifecta". We were told by everyone that it was too unsafe to do more than 3 back-to-back-to-back BunBurner Gold rides (1500 miles in 24 hours).... they said it just couldn't be done.

They were wrong. ;)

Like a boss.

Well, I'm certainly not the safest rider, I just did the math and assumed there would be 22.5 hours of moving time if he is HARDCORE. 1500 / 22.5 is a 67 mph average speed required to complete 1500 miles. That's pretty quick for twisites.... I would like to see an example of the road that is going to be used... or a similar road. Again I think it's awesome as I'm much more comfortable on my bike riding twisites than on the freeway.

I'm not going to say it's ********, but I will say it sounds like a PITA. (Literally and figuratively.) Whoever does this ride, gl/hf. Get pics and vids! I want some crash coverage!!

ive already done a ride like this

the dragon, aka deals gap 24 hrs

1001.7 miles

23hrs 52 min

19 mpg

29,786 turns

and funny not one crash and i dont plan on crashing on this next one so sorry to let you down
Oh, I didn't necessarily mean you. I meant any fool dumb enough to do this ride with you!

I'm just bustin' chops, man. If you're hurt by it, I can stop. :assassin:

My hat's off to you, especially on a Wing. I think I'd get disoriented after a while and forget which direction UP is.

I would be (very) interested in such a ride, but the problem (for me) is that I am too far away to get in on a last minute deal, such as you describe.

OTOH, there are a whole bunch of FJR derelicts from that area that hang on the FJRriders.com forum. Some (many?) don't frequent these parts. My understanding is that there are quite a few that would welcome such an opportunity. Try posting over there.

Wait... On second read: You said riding the same little piece of road 156 times?

No, nevermind. That just sounds supremely ******** (unless it is a track)
I think that's a little harsh. It's not like he's suggesting they do it 160 times. That would be ********. :p

This thread reminds me of a "for sale" post that comes in at a perceived too-high price. And then folks start criticizing the seller. "$450 for that? They're only $500 new, and you can get 'em on sale for $350. You're a troll!" Mostly, we agree, collectively, just to let those thoughts go unsaid.

If the guy wants to do a ride that might sound nuts, or boring, or too tiring, or too challenging, or unsafe, for me, anyway, I wish him luck. If I weren't a continent away, I might even be tempted to try to follow him for A COUPLE OF LAPS to see if I could keep up. For fun. My fun. Guess his "fun" is different from mine. I don't know for sure that this is a ride I can't do, but it's definitely a ride I don't want to.

It's not like he's suggesting they do it 160 times. That would be ********. :p
Oh, HELL yeah.

I don't think it's the same thing at all, Mike.

When people step on other folks "For Sale" threads they are interfering with their right to sell the item(s) in question.

When someone steps up and lays out a plan similar to this one, I think it is always wide open to reviews, both positive and negative. If all we ever had here were positive reviews and attaboys, this would be a damn boring place.

To be honest, I don't see anyone getting all upset about his proposal. Sure some of us can't see how it can be done realistically, or wouldn't dream of ever doing it that way. But I don't think any of that is going to dissuade the OP'er, and I think that we all think it is pretty cool that he's gonna try hitting such a stretch target.

You know what's going to be completely impossible is following this attempt on a Spotwalla page :p

...will be a road 9.4 miles long,1500 miles in 24 hrs,say 156 passes.
Do you not ever ride any other road besides the Dragon????

I think I'll ride to the end of my driveway and back 4,300 times in 24hrs. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it! :D

in hind sight so here are right,i dont think inviting someone on this ride is a good idea,i would hate for someone to get hurt doing what i started!!!

this ride is NOT gonna be on the dragon, been there done that, this ride is a bit faster road but not a hi speed road at all!

thanks for the input guys and yes i can take the good with the bad as long as the facts are right!!

It would seem with such a short road and so many passes that it would get boring after a while and the risk for crashing would be higher. If i was closer I would love to ride it but I dont think I could do it 156 times. I would rather make a larger loop less times but to each is own.
