Other than the casual online stuff for practice (don't play for real $ when I can't look someone in the eye), and the usual neighborhood cash games, I usually head to Atlantic City two to three times per month. I go back and forth between the $1/$3 NL tables and the nightly tournaments. I've cashed in a few of the tournaments and usually do OK on the cash tables.
Last week, I played in a World Series of Poker Circuit Event satellite at Caesar's. Was doing OK then took a bad beat that cost me the tournament. Was a fun experience.
On Saturday, the wife and I went to watch the final table of the Main Event ($5K buy in). Was a thrill to watch. Wife doesn't know squat about poker, but, she got caught up in it and really enjoyed watching. Winner 'sort of' took down $431K + a voucher for a seat at the WSOP main event in Vegas. I say 'sort of' 'cause when they got down to 3 players, I'm pretty sure they made a deal to chop the pot (3-way chop = $263K each) as they asked that the clock be halted, they huddled together with a pen and a piece of paper and asked for the payout structure then all shook hands. They still had to play it out per the rules of the tournament as the winner gets the ring and the seat into the Main Event (but, he also gets the IRS form saying he won $431K).
