My daughters Xbox died. The led ring around the eject button flashes red at pwoer up and the cd tray ejects as if to say "feed me Seymore".

It's out of warranty but it has been barely used and never abused.

Someone mentioned it may be the hard drive or bios.

I've found all kinds of mod (hackers term for farkles I guess ;) ) sites that have all kinds of info on flashing a new hacked bios and installing bigger drives, but you know, spending that kind of time on a game system was never on my already heaping stack of things to do.

I just want to fix the thing. Unfortunately I get no video at all so the flashing red ring is the only clue.

Continual "orange" flashing = overheating let cool in ventilated area

Alternating Green-Orange flashing = AV cable is loose or needs reconnected.

All other indications are internal and need to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269)

I would bet its the something with the bios opening the tray for a "fixit" disc.

I'm no X-box xpert but i did stay at a HolidayInn Express once!!!

my xbox did that a while ago, called the phone # posted above and they said it was the mainboard. BOY was I thankful I spent the extra $59 for the 3 yr warrenty. Mailed it into them at no cost, and they sent me a brand new one back within 5 business days.

A new box, IMHO, costs less than the hassle of modding out your old box and still having it crap the bed.
