Has anybody from the Charlotte, NC area seen or purchased an '08 FJR yet? I work near Mattews Fun Machines (MFM) and I go by there frequently to see if they've got any in the showroom. I guess they got one in 2 weeks ago (didn't make it in that week) and sold it within 2 days to someone who traded in a '98 ST1300. Is that someone here on the FJR Forum? I'm thinking about selling (or trading in) my '05 FJR and buying a new one. Wondering if anybody has a suggestion on which dealer in the area has the best OTD price. I bought my '05 new at MFM but at that time they would not budge from MSRP. I did end up getting them to throw in a 3-year Pit Pass (covers all scheduled maintenance). They're a great bunch of guys and their service dept is very good but on my next go-round I'd rather focus on lowering the OTD price than adding a package that ties me to one dealership for service. Thanks for your input.

Columbia Power Sports on Fernandina Road (off I26W) in Columbia SC. Ask for Steve Kelly. They still had a new '08 last Saturday for ~ $12,800.00±

Both Interstate Cycle, exit 28 off I 77 and Team Motorsports on Freedom Drive have the 08's.

I work at the airport and went with Team Motorsports for my 07. They wouldn't come off MSRP till almost the end of the year when they finally went on sale. Had to almost walk out because they tried to add on so much extra cost at the end. Had to absolutely badgered them to get the out the door price down to $1200 over the sale price (including tax, reg).

A couple of guys I work with brought all their machines from Interstate Cycle and loved their customer service and out the door prices. ( got a lot of ribbing for not going there)

Haven't seen any 08's driving around locally.

I live in Huntersville also. Post Charlotte because its more recognizable. I live at Barcley Farms subdivision at Beatty Ford and McIlwane. If you are ever looking for someone to ride with give me a call, I'm on the Fjr assistance list.

I live in the Northstone sub-division off of exit 23 on 77N and east of 77. I'm definitely going to check out Interstate Cycle. I actually have heard the same thing that you mention about them but never made it there. Another place worth checking out is Ride Now Motorsports in Concord (formerly Excel Motorsports). I went there last weekend. They didn't have any '07's or '08's but they did seem motivated to as they put it "do whatever it takes" to get my business. They do have an incredible selection of bikes to choose from there. They have a Victory Vision there in the showroom. Sweet looking bike, just not an FJ :uhuh: Would love to go riding with ya. As soon as the "ice pack" melts off the Blue Ridge mountains, I'll proabably head up to the Blue Ridge Pkwy via 85, Kings Mountain and Lake Lure for a day. Have you participated in any of Keith Larson's "Ride for the Kids"? He's a DJ on WBT every weekday morning. He has hosted like 3 or 4 rides. I've gone to two of them. The last one I went to, 600+ bikes showed up. We take off from Matthews Fun Machines and in a long procession of staggered bikes with Police escort cruise all over Union County and into SC for 4 hours, then come back to MFM for a cook-out. It's a great time and the money collected for admission, etc... goes to good causes usually foundations looking for a cure for cancer in children.

Falcon124,

No, haven't participated in any rides like that yet. After moving down (bike-less) from the NE just a little shy of 3 years now, I just got the bike this last October. I'll keep my eyes open for those "Rides for the kids".

The Blue Ridge Parkway may be closed, but a lot of forum members have been riding throughout the mountains on any given weekend. Just make sure you have some basic cold weather gear, it does get chilly up there.

Theres another group of guys who meet for "breakfast and a ride" outside of Raleigh on Sundays. Hoping to be going there this weekend if there's anything going on.

I'll keep in touch with you.

Jet Mechanic,

I pulled the trigger today and bought an '08 FJR at Interstate Cycle. I was not only happy with what they gave me for my '05 FJR with 13K miles as part of the trade, but I was able to negotiate a decent OTD price - well below MSRP. Didn't know whether the "Raven" black color would grab me or not since I had only seen the bike online and not in person. Upon first glance, I was hooked  The black metal flake is sweet :good: The bike is awesome. By the way, the next "Ride for the Kids" is scheduled for Apr 19th. A $25 donation gets you registered for the ride, a t-shirt and the cookout afterwards. I've already registered online. Check it out here. They haven't yet determined the route or where it starts. If you can make it, maybe we can meet up somewhere in Huntersville early that morning and head down there together. We should try to get all the folks from this forum who live around here to go. We can have our own little "FJR Contingent".
